GTR rod #2 seem to be breaking a lot ...

Tirer de Freshalloy.com GTR section> Keith Cowie just broke the motor in his GT-R . His car has gone as quick as 9.95@153 in the UK. Funny thing about this is how it broke. It broke #2 rod. Anyone following Nicks car will know that it also broke #2 rod...

Anyone has a take on this?
Along the way, I lost two wheels

Thats Nicks car and Keiths car. Pictures I took.

    Some of them.....

If you go on Freshalloy , and GTR UK . You will see some of the discussion about it.

Well, when it comes to tuning, you better have a big wallet because the more power or the higher you set your goal, the more parts you're gonna break in the process... simple logistics of performance/tuning.

...*now you forced me to say it*... otherwise, go buy a Civic hehehe! =)

          ---

True though... #2 gone eh?... Sean, enlighten us... what was the reason Doc?

          Cheers,

#2 was oil starvation , the best we can tell. 4.5 liters of oil , pumping around everywhere. 1.063 on the Skidpad. At 1 G the oil stands up on the side of the pan/motor.

Ouch... poor thing. I can just imagine *thinks of a CSI type Scenario but with the engine internals*... Ouch, so sad.

So I guess there is no way of seriously preventing that eh? - except not doing skippad runs!

Dry sump is best bet. We aren't going to lose A/C though. So not that.

Next best is modified pan. This is one of the Bathhurst Cars . This is a huge sump.

We also are planning on running an Accusump -

Its an oil surge tank more or less. Holds oil until oil pressure goes low . The one in the picture is 3 quart. Should be enough to make up for tranisent low oil pressures.
