  • CCRA 15 year rule in detail (link)

For those interested in bringing in a Skyline, or any other vehicle for that matter under the 15 year rule, you may start your research by first reading the actual document in html: http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/E/pub/cp/.../rc4140-e.html

GTRCanada does not condone nor encourage anyone to attempt to import a vehicle that is outside the 15 year rule. Attempts at finding loopholes or illegally shipping and registering newer vehicles is against the law.

The only hard part is getting a letter to prove the car is over 15 years old.

Someones going have to figure that part out.

I read though it quick . Seems like over 15 years , they don't really care what it is.

Good luck with your imporations. Too bad the US doesnt have 15 year exemption.

Sean, I remember you posting somewhere where exactly the build date was located on the car. It wasn't where you'd expect as I recall . . . could you remind us of that?

      Thanks

Same topic on SDU right now....

I said I have seen it in the Nissan DVD/CD's by chassis number.

The year is on the seatbelts if they havent been changed.

You can guess by Chassis number - ie BNR32-000001 would be an early model.... they were made pretty much in order.

Other than that someone said there is a date code on the brake booster vacuum line.

You will need an offcial document called a shako somei or vehicle registration. Here's what it looks like (not mine, ignore comments in pic):

          (sorry for the image size).
With it and an official translation you will get through Customs Canada and pure GTR bliss

            I know 010933 is late June '90

000633 is late Aug 89 if this helps you guys.

At least those are the dates on the vaccum lines off of the brake booster.

Anything on this? I'd like to make it a sticky faq.

Sorry I'm going to be a bit of an ass. It took me alot of work to get these numbers, and I believe that they give a business an advantage. I'm not going to share them at this time, I couldn't bear to just give them away for my competitor's to find after I spent so much time tracking them down.

However, I would be happy to give anyone the month/year of any chassis code if you ask me. Call, email or PM Import Concern, and we'll be more than happy to give you the month/year for any R32 chassis number. I want to support people who recognise the 15 year rule and who want to be confident that they aren't bringing in something that may not yet be 15 years old.

Again sorry, maybe another member will publish them soon.

Chris, don't worry. Its a secret of the trade and we all respect that. I am glad you're offering to share the fruits of your labour on a individual basis though
