Good Idea! The market is total crap right now.

I myself am moving to the vancouver area from calgary area and I am looking for a Computer Tech job and/or Deskside Support role.

Edit: I know this is on the eastern region forum but networking is the key!

What do you want to do? What experience do you have? What do you consider "good pay"?

Ever consider getting into the Canadian Forces?
That is if you don't mind making twice the amount you mentioned above.

Fair enough. I'd do yourself a favour and look into before deciding against it. For the most part it's exactly like every other job (depending on your trade) except you wear the same thing to work everyday.
Unbeatable benefits, concrete job security, and pretty damn good pay.
It's NOTHING like what you see on TV.

+1 Canadian forces is always a great option. I always consider going this route myself. Its something I would strongly suggest looking into. The benefits outweigh the sacrifices you have to make tenfold. I have a close friend who is training as an aviation tech and he has not one bad thing to say about the whole experience.

education is dependent on the trade you want. Most trades require little more than a high school.
There really isn't a "security job like at airports" but there is Military Police. If you want to stay close to home there are several bases in Ontario. Closest would be Borden just outside of Barrie.
If you want to work with your hands look into Vehicle teck, Aircraft structures teck, Aviation systems teck, Marine Engineer (my job), Hull teck.
