UltraRide '10 is just around the corner !!!! sept12

alright boys and girl (just 1 girl here i think)

the UltraRide 2010 event will be held on sunday september 12th

for those who want to know more abou the event, you can read all about my experience on the last 2 rides (2008-2009) here
Frankiman's street/track GTR project

if nothing major changes, it should be like last year, abotu 140~150 cars
i was one of only 2 JDMs last year (the other was an FD3S)
the meeting spot for the take off should still be here;
Laval, QC H7T 1C7, Canada - Google Maps
the meeting time should still be 8am for departure @9am


what i'd like to do, is setup a different meeting spot for all GTRC members willing to come,
we would meet @ ~7;40am then all drive together to the principal meeting location


for anyone who would be coming from far away (GTA, Ottawa) i can offer alot of space in my backyard for camping equipment for the night, about 4 to 5 tents can easily be assembled
and i have well enough parking spots on my street to accomodate 10+ cars

i live about 35 minutes away from the principal meeting spot

cars should have a full tank of gaz prior to departure
can be filled up the night before, like i did last time, and my full tank lasted the whole day

the whole ride is no more than 600km, but the roads are really twisty, so be ready to be pretty tired at the end of the day

the event ends at around 6;30pm at this location

we will make a stop at Mt. Tremblant village to go eat at Casey's

no stupid driving allowed, maybe may cops along the way to check for speed

i personnaly know the organizer and promised him at least 10 skylines from GTRC

If I can find a GTRCer willing to drive up there, I will go without a doubt. I cant bring an automatic accord, I would hold up traffic.

Josh, Tyler and I have gone over this .. We'll definitely come.

Tyler will be hosting a JDM/Skyline meet at Steves car wash (Father) on St Johns in the coming weeks. We're hoping to reach out to the skyline community in the west island/montreal area to meet some of the guys who've been eluding the forum. Hopefuly we can get more interest in UR from them and have a fairly decent skyline population at the ride.

I'll keep you posted on that, or tyler will email you with the details when it's finalized.

But count us in for UR..

stickers are given out to all participents on te morning of the UR, at the general meet spot in Laval
there will be plenty of stickers available


and i just got word from the organiser yesterday, hes going to make web articles about the wildest rides in the UR, and i'm going to be featured in the very first article,
he said he went over my whole build thread (which he admits took him 2 weeks, lol) and hes completely crazy about my whoel story, yey

UltraRide '10 was a great success

i drove there with GTRC member Vulcain (louis), we were the ~9th-10th cars to arrive at the departure point
eventually GTRC members TW (tyler) and Nelsonxmarc (Marc) arrived, totally mashed from the previous night, but at least they came (!josh!)
we then all parked together, side by side, and just then another GTRC member MaxGTR parked next to us, followed by GTRC member GTR-Stylez (Gabriella - yes a girl !)

so we had 6 skylines side by side

we saw another (unknown) 3 skylines in the parking lot
and GTRC member Mitch32 met with us at the check point in Tremblant

it was epic !

~360 cars total
1 crashed G35
1 dtiched GTI
lots of rain during the afternoon, so almost everyone went home,
exept for my group, we continued following the directions right to the end
as far as i know, we were the only 6 cars to get to the last check point, a petro-canada station (4 GTRs - me - max - mitch - louis, + 2 civics)

we left the petro-can on our way home, in the Louis-H tunnel, we got 3 GTRs side by side and blasted like crazy
the Louis-H tunnel has never resonated so darn much, it was insane
and Max's car did a huge backfire in the tunnel (or was it me?) which was epic !


i'm seriously considering organizing a SkyRide next year

ill write the whole story (with tons of pics) shortly in my build thread

The ride was crazy! Thanks to all of you who have shown up there!

And I still don't know if it was Frankiman or me that did THE EPIC backfire in the Louis-H tunnel, but it was damn insane! I really thought something blew up!

We did it, after about 8 hours of driving we finally arrived to the last checkpoint. Cars were dirty, but the smiles were big! I'm gonna put my pictures up in a new ultraride thread, feel free to add some if you want to!

Again, thanks to all my fellow GTR riders, I had a lot of fun, and I hope to see you guys the sooner the better!
