put insurance on it then? get a temp permit and drive it around to get it safety/e-tested.

if getting insurance is the hard part, wouldn't it be stupid to spend money on a safety if it's just going to sit and not be insured?

Insurance wont insure til i have safety, and its the only company who will touch my car, and to get it insured i need it saftied and emissions, and to get that done i need to get it to a testing area, and todo that i need a truck or plates. Plates which i cannot obtain til i have insurance..... whoever made this system up is an idiot

I was just going to suggest that.

But you will have to put plates on the car. They will ask if they are registered to the car, jsut say they are...big whoop. Hopefully you wont have any issues with the tow truck driver, usually they are cool about it, if not tell them there is a tip as long as they ensure the safety of your car taking it on and off the bed. I've done it numerous times. Just make sure you ask for a flat bed when you call.

    CAA is totally worth it.

yeah I had questions about that ^ A buddy uses it to get his non-running new purchases to his place...so I hope the registered thing doesnt pose an issue.

I believe the car needs plates on it for CAA to pick it up. I could be wrong though, best to call and ask them.

If you have plates on the vehicle I dont see why the issue would come up. Running or not they still have to tow you, thats what there service is.

I'm sure he just puts plates on it for when it gets picked up.

My car wasnt running when I had CAA tow it once. They said it had to have registered plates on it. So before they showed up to pick it up, I put my plates from my daily on it.

I didnt mean to emphasize the cars being non running, I know theyll still take them. I just meant he used it to haul the things around. None of the cars (2 for example) had plates, let alone the car being in his name. A friend of mine will be needing this soon, just trying to clarify. Thanks all.

If you call it in and they ask if it has plates just say yes, you can tip off the driver. In most cases they would be happy to take the extra 20 bones. Just tell them that on the phone they didnt mention it needed to be plated.

I'm sure it would be fine....it's only a little bit sketchy....
