TunerLab Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) 2009 Party!

TunerLab will be holding a meet/greet/dinner/drinking party in Tokyo on Sat. Jan. 10, 2008 during the Tokyo Auto Salon (Jan 9-11, 2009).

This party will be held to bring together GTRC members, and anyone else visiting Japan for the Auto Salon, and give them a chance to meet other auto enthusiasts face-to-face.

The informal party will be held at an Izakaya (Japanese bar) in Tokyo. We understand that many people coming to TAS are unable to speak any Japanese and that ordering food or drinks can be a challenge. This meeting will have bilingual staff present, so we will be able to assist ordering food and drinks for everyone, and provide a comfortable English atmosphere for visitors.

Also, we can also assist anyone coming to Japan for TAS, from booking hotel rooms to event tickets, to tours around the city.

Please PM me if you are coming to TAS, and if you are in need of any assistance.
We are here to help and provide assistance to any GTRC members in any aspect of their trip, free of charge of course!

If you can make it to our party please let me know by signing up in this thread.

Thanks and hope to see many of you in Tokyo!

    Regards,
    Daryl

If it wasn't for school, I'd make the trip. Planning on coming the following year though! TAS is an experience I need to have under my belt.

Japanese, gurus, could you explain something to an gaijin. As I understand there are TWO major autoshows happening in Japan.

One is where all the manufactures present their stock cars and prototypes, once a year (same as Paris, LA, Detroid auto shows.)

The other is where they have all the tuning shops and all the aftermarket performance product present. That's it is where all the tuned up cars are. Just like SEMA but much bigger. I have been told that this shopws runs once in two years.

Could you tell me how they are called? This TAS which one is that? When do they run? Once a year, two years?

Thank you. I really want to visit Japan, and I have funds, but I got nobody I know, and don't speak Japanese. So it scares me a bit. If I knew about this kind of even a month or two before, I would come.

PLease do this kind of event in the future.

The Tokyo Motor Show is the automotive manufacturers show, similar to Detriot, Paris etc. This is put on once a year.

The Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) is where the aftermarket parts makers show off their best stuff, similar to SEMA. This is put on once a year.

The next TAS event is in January 2009, so you can still plan to come for it!

We would be happy to help out if you need some assistance, just let us know. This party is being organized with that exact point in mind, foreigners who have difficulties in Japan. We will take care of everything at the party, so there is no need to worry about ordering food etc. Also, not knowing a language, or the environment is a whole adventure in itself, and is often a positive experience as long as you have an open mind!
