What kind of gas mileage do Skylines get? Under normal driving conditions

I know they don't get the greatest mileage. i have heard that they get like 15 MPG in the city and about 25 on the highway.

I know that the type of gas and the condition of the engine are a factor, i just want to know the average

    Thanks in advance

There's a post somehwere on the forums, not sure where, the guy put a spreadsheet up to calculate his average mileage on 3 different fill ups. He averaged at 13L/100km which comes to about 21MPG, I believe both city and highway driving. It was a GT-R btw.

I managed on the highway a very nice 9L/100 that was driving a very constant 100km/h for 2.5 hours + getting on and off the highway. pretty good in my eyes

In a modded GTR (550cc injectors, 2530 turbos, and the all important PowerFC[proper tune is really important for good fuel economy]) i still avg around 17mpg in city. On the hwy its around 20mpg... It drops pretty drasticly if im driving around in +boost though

so do gtr's get less mileage than the other models. I mean i know they don't get good gas mileage but i thought it was a little better than that.

How much does it cost to fill up a skyline? and how big are the fuel tanks

My car is pretty heavily modified compared to stock. Turbos, Injectors, Head, Computer/maps- its probably in the 400-450hp range- relatively speaking 17-20mpg is pretty good.

Stock i'd imagine you're probably looking at 20-22 if you're lucky. Thats a total guestimate btw. GTS models should be better on gas because of less displacement, smaller injectors, etc. With any old car though fuel economy will tend to vary a lot more thne with a new car... Because old parts will be less efficient if not properly maintained.

To put things in perspective- i live in white rock and work in burnaby. I commute about 30km EACH WAY... thats about $6 each way to get to work.... 12/day.... 60/week.... 240/month just on gas + maintenance + upgrades + broken parts + towing(luckily not me yet) + whatever... If youre contemplating cost of fuel to own/operate a skyline do yourself a favor and look elsewhere/other cars.

I know there will be a few (definately a minority) that might disagree... But don't get a skyline unless you can afford another vehicle, or have rich parents who can bail you out if things dont work out like you planned. Ideally... have both.

I'm guessing that you're looking to get a skyline for yourself. I would recommend the following... 1- get a truck thats good on gas, practical(cheap), and powerful enough to tow a skyline. 2- save up money for a skyline, with about $5000 extra. 3- fun

That way you dont have to half ass things along the way, or make compromises that you dotn want to under pressure. It will also give you the option to alternate 6mo/6mo so you have reliable transportation year round- and a backup vehicle/towtruck if the skyline decides to **** the bed.

Edit Add: Forgot about your last questions- I usually fill around 1/4-1/2 (going any lower then 1/4 is a fast way to kill a fuel filter/pump) and put around $65-90 always 94.

i appreciate the time and effort you put into your answer. And i do take everything into consideration because thats the way i am.

i do plan on owning a skyline, wether its my daily driver or not. it has been a dream of mine for a couple of years now and i plan on full-filling that dream

I understand that it will become harder and more expensive to own a skyline as the years pass by. that is why i want to get a skyline as soon as possible so i can enjoy it for as long as i can.

As of right now i am 16, and i know how many people on here feel about young drivers, especially when they are driving a skyline. and i respect that, as i am doing everything i can to become a better and safer driver

But some of the people on here have to respect the fact that i want a skyline and that may not be possible in the years coming. When most of the people got there skylines, gas was probably a lot cheaper, and they have probably had many fun years with there cars and i want them to realize that i want that too.

i just recently found out about this site and i have probably read almost every thread made. And in doing that, i understand how everyone on this site respects their cars and how they act against street racing and illegal activities and I want to be a part of that, i want to keep the image of JDM's that you guys have created

If/when i do get a skyline, i plan on it being my daily driver (meaning to and from school/work) which won't be that much driving since Lethbridge is not that big

when i hear things like "oh you shouldn't get a skyline if you are worried about fuel mileage" when in reality everyone is worried about fuel mileage.
And i know that when the users on here say that, they say that in my best interest. and i know you are only trying to help since i was asking about fuel mileage.

wow, that was a lot of writing/reading. if you made it this far you will realize that i have a lot of feeling towards owning a skyline and just kinda threw em all out at once

if you don't use your turbo, you will get better gas mileage Right

I do around 13-14L/100km on highway with no ''Super big acceleration'' ( on the highway and in the city)

If iI'm giving a ''ride'' to some people or driving ''to have fun'' it come to 18-22L/100km.

My car is pretty stock.twin plate clutch, bigger intercooler but nothing that really make the car more powerful..

In my 1991 Nissan skyline GTS T to one tank of gas 55L I got 620 Kms, from full to the little orange light
This is mixed highway and city, some boost some not just a general driving you would do with it. In toronto with little to no traffic driving, so I think its pretty nice.

...I've always said I gave up my right to complain about gas mileage, and gas prices, when I bought a Skyline.....

Rough guesstimate with my GTR, (pretty much everything stock with a Fujitsubo Exhaust and an HKS Super Power Flow intake), would be 450kms per fillup, and I probably put around 60L or so in. Lets say 62L just in case (approx where the light comes on, I've found).

Filling up with 92 octane from Mohawk (ethanol blended), I get around 13.78 L / 100kms.

So basically the same as cobrAA.

This is for pure city driving (some stop and go, some stretches where I can hold a decent speed for a while).

                        G.T.R is getting around 8.87 L / 100kms in his GTS-T.

On the highway, with 92 octane (Esso, pure gas, at least no ethanol mentioned), the previous owner was getting around 10L/100km I believe. So I expect to get around the same.

I would also guess you could push it down to 12L/100km city driving, if you were to not boost at all (I've mastered the art, but the car just isn't as fun to drive....especially hill climbing), so some of that 13.8L/100km is "spirited" driving.

I took the time one day to figure out my gas consumption. Here's what I get in a GTS-t with intake, exhaust, boost controller (11PSI).

                            21 mpg city
                            30 mpg highway
                            26 mpg city/ highway

Last fill up I got 9.1 L/100km with a GTS-t, with quite a bit of boosting, and about 50/50 city/highway driving. Right now I'm actually trying to empty fuel tank, to get the ethanol content out and because the Gas prices are so low , passed 280km and its still a bit above half the tank on the gauge.
