  • Wiring IGNITION 3 PIN CONNECTOR FROM ENGINE HARNESS

My buddy and I recently completed a r32 rb26dett swap into a s13 coupe chasis. The car as been running rough and just doesn't sound right ignition wise (even with brand new spark plugs and ignition coils). I know you have the 6 pin connector going to the ignition chip and a 3 pin connector with power, ground, and ignition signal ground??(also heard it called a timing wire) from the ECU. I don't remember exactly why, but we never hooked up the 3rd wire which i think is the ignition signal ground. So only power and ground are making it to the coils. I know the ignition chip is sending the signal to each coil to fire, but could the lack of the 3rd wire coming from the 3 pin connector(from the ecu) be causing me a problem with my ignition and overall performance? Thanks for your time and i've been searching but can't find any real information on the topic. Any info would help.
