Went out for my 3rd event today and good results!
finished with a 1:12.82, which was good enough for first in the raw division.
The gf road along for 3 of my runs but even better I got my mom to come out and sit in with me for one run!

I told you it would be like crack, you just need more.
For me AutoX has really given me the opportunity to USE my car. I realize parts cost, but at the end of the day if something breaks while doing this type of racing, it was going to break anyway. The amount of strain put on the cars for autox should be easily handled by most sports cars. While a Skyline is not the best for this type of racing, it certainly allows you to develope as a driver, plus if we all become WSCC Members then we would be competing in a different class then the S2000's.
I love doing this and plan to make every race this year. The next step is "solo racing" at gimli.

If you are ever at a VMSC auto slalom, you are welcome to come for a ride along. I have only done one at Saratoga, but because of their odd event times I probably won't go back. IRC hold events near Parksville, don't think I will go to those either.
I will be at Mission next weekend for a CACC Time Attack event and on August 27 & 28th I will be attending the CACC B.C. Auto Slalom Championships, hosted by VCMC in Pitt Meadows.

Do you have a gunmetal gtr with a number on the doors? Volk ce28n's with slicks?

For auto slalom the biggest expenses will be fuel and entry fee's. If you have dedicated wheels and street tires for auto slalom they can last you a long time. Two seasons is not unheard of. If you super competitive you will want to get new ones for every season.Does anyone have any input on what they go through most and what maybe to do to make autocross a little less expensive in the long run?
If you run r-comps and are at an event every weekend you will easily go through 2 sets in a season.

You just need cones. I am super pumped about our drift/ track day next Sunday at shannonville. its been over a year and a half since i was on trackOriginally posted by Tony-R32 View PostAnd are you on crack travis? Are you speaking of the airstrip in Brandon to drift on? I'd rather not drive 2 hours each way for half a day of "drifting" on a strait runway lol.

Personally fromw hat i've experienced so far I woul think tires is your biggest cost because your pretty hard on those.
As far as everything else goes, your doing 1 minute runs where your on your brakes hard for a total of maybe 5-10 seconds of that one minute run and while it's "hard" on your suspension, I also don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be. your on a flat relatively smooth surface, and your not doing 90 degree turns. I think coilovers, sway bars and new tension rods are a good start for this kind of event.

^ very well put. I look forward to pursuing this and possibly making a new hobbie out of it. I didn't think something like this was for me and though that maybe the quarter mile was my thing but once being able to take a spin with a very good driver I quickly learned where my love in racing lied. It would be nice to do this on a continuos basis but I do imagine maintaining your vehicle on a regular basis for this could be quite expensive. Does anyone have any input on what they go through most and what maybe to do to make autocross a little less expensive in the long run?
Going out and giving 100% in the car will take a tole on not only the breaks but yet other components as well like the clutch and suspension components(bushings and such). What would be a good way to maintain this?

The cool part about racing a Skyline is that the car's capabilities are really quite high, so you can develop your own skills over several years without bumping into hardware limitations. (Racing ANY car is fun, but racing a well set up, well designed car is pure joy!)
Enjoy!

They need to build some kind of course here!
There is a huge open airstrip to drift and do whatever you want on. what more can you ask for? lol
