  • Who here hates insurance!?

    I'm fuming.

I'm currently moving the premium for my 02 Sentra from a broker (A) (which I was paying an astronomical amount, 3 times the premium) to a company (B) that doesn't cover RHD "because of high liability costs, since the cars use outcountry parts, etc etc".

So I'm sticking with shitty broker (A) for the Skyline since at least they got a decent premium for a RHD. While I'm ironing out the kinks, they inform me that the Skyline never was cancelled (6 month minimum premium). My ****damn insurance BROKER (A) was supposed to cancel my premium when the Skyline got into storage. I only got 2 months out of the premium this year.

So today, I was informed I lost nearly 500$ in credit because some dumb rich f*** BROKER forgot to date the paper I signed. Wow, it's not as if IT'S HIS JOB.

I just hope some fat insurance tycoon chokes on my free money.

perhaps go to broker A and talk to him rationally and get him to call the company and explain his clerical error since it is a significant one... and maybe they will do the right thing... if not then i suggest a local media outlet open up the can of worms... cause if this has happened to you.... then how many other people has this happened too... there could be thousands of dollars lost/stolen in this way...
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

I got customer protection on the case... meanwhile I just hope that I'm not gonna lose insurance (A) for the the Skyline.

*sigh* To add insult to injury, I bit the bullet and bought two days ago new A-Teck rims in 27 offset because the 17 can't be found anymore... turns out someone returned some today and it's too late to turn back the truck with my shipment.

      FML.

PS: If you have A-Teck (MB Wheels) competitions in 17mm offset, they're gonna be a collector's item, so keep 'em.

sucks to hear about the insurance.

As for the wheels, MB competitions, if they are the ones that discount tire sells, then I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued them and then a few months later started making them in 17 offset again. There was a time when MB battles were discontinued and people were frantically paying higher prices for them....fast forward a few months and they were back in production again.

DiscountTire is the official supplier in NA. They often would go out of stock, but this time though they're deleting the pages. Were they doing so the last times? I've been around the Customer Support (which is, in my opinion, the most amazing long-distance service I've ever experienced) and they're all adamant that MB is discontinuing the line. Ebay is drying up too.

It's the same for Rota P45R (which I was considering first), which are, to my opinion, discontinued too; you can only find royal bronze in some less popular dimensions on ebay.

You could still be right though. The reason why I bit the bullet now though is because I was monitoring the market for parity during the past months and they had plenty of stock. Got parity, I call in and BAM, discontinued.

Anyway, I'm sure 27mm 17x9 will look dandy. Can always find some spacers and loctite if not.

I'd prefer to stay local for the Skyline. I'm close-ish to your premium though (if you have the basic poor-man's bottom of the barrel coverage). I have an accident on history, so it's hard to find good premiums. Thanks for the tip man.

Edit: Sorry for the post spam, I wanted to make one big post. I'm kinda tired from my day.

I honestly can't say anything good about any insurance I"ve ever dealt with. They overcharge on monthly payments, and they underpay when you have a claim. My parents had 3 claims in 3 years, twice the car was hit (and hard) in a parking lot when they were inside shopping (definitely not their fault!) 1 time the car was stolen from our driveway when we were sleeping (Again not their fault).
Their rates went up after that, and when they enquired as to why their rates went up even though none of this was their fault, they were told that their rates did not go up, but a previous discount (completely unknown to them) had been removed.
Really the insurance companies can make up any stupid excuse they want, lie and pillage, and no one can do anything about it.

My other favourite story is a guy from Quebec, he had a Subaru Impreza with a roll cage inside. He got a discount from his insurance company because it made his car safer. He moved to Ontario, did not change insurance companies, but because he moved to Ontario his roll cage was considered "street racing equipment" and his rates increased. How on earth the same insurance company can have 2 points of view is beyond me. It's just straight up gouging.

Insurance is ridiculous... I'm having a hell of a time finding anyone to insure RHD here... Any ideas on your end Daryl? You're fairly nearby to me.

Perhaps talk to Right Drive, they know the ins and outs of insurance.

Consumer Protection came through, I'll get my money back since my plates expiry date is pretty much all the proof I need to claim that the car was uninsurable during that period.
