so i received my new fuel rail. time to say goodbye to this thing and rubber lines.
and hello to this with an lines.
had grabbed neo hardware to install it too. looks amazing.
then it was time to install the injectors. with a little bit of this.
smear it all over the orings and they pop right in.
now i went to install the injector caps and couldnt thread the bolts.
of course the coating had filled the threads making it impossible to bolt them on. so i picked up a whole metric tap and die set.
since they had threads already. just dirty. was a piece of cake.
threaded in perfect. looks so nice.
and after more vaseline for the intake manifold seals
popped on beautifully as it should.
lines installed.
some closeups for viewing pleasure. but after staring at it for an hour or so i decided i hated seeing the wiring harness. so that would have to be addressed
then recieved my gktech aftermarket clutch fan in the mail. and since its for an s chassis i either need to buy a $30 adapter from them or just get an s13 clutch. i opted for the s13 clutch.
then after a nice coat of satin black on the clutch its ready to go. will install next update
woke up this morning determined to move the harness. so after a little rewiring of my spare harness looks muchhh better.
got some more titanium hardware in the mail! they look soooo nice.
the bigger 2 were for my blowoff valve.
before
after
and the 8 little ones are for the coilpack cover.
and quickly put my catch can on for a complete bay photo. still missing a few nuts and bolts. but i love how its came together so far.
thanks for looking/reading!

Glad to hear things have taken a turn for the better with your health, I was wondering what happened to this build. Where do you get all your hardware?
Nice job on all the lines and fittings, Thats one of the next things I am not looking forward to paying for haha.Jordie Lewis

Great to hear you're feeling better. I can't imagine how frustrating that must've been.
Beautiful detail work on the engine bay!
I'm curious to know what happened to your cam. That's pretty strange.
Also would like to know more about that fan! Is it quieter? Surely more efficient and moves more air.

They claim its 60% more efficient than the OEM SR20det fan but this has been disputed all over the internet. I have installed one on my car but havent had it running yet to see any gains in cooling performance for myself. The reason I got it was because it is new and I have had bad luck with used fans flexing and cracking.
Also note that if you want this for GTR you will have to use an RB20 fan clutch and the GKtech spacer (I tried using a GTR one and there was little clearance between the fan and PS belt.)Jordie Lewis

On topic though, RWD_GTR I'm happy that you seem to be recovering well. It was surely an ordeal on multiple levels.1992 BNR32 SKYLINE GTR

Thanks guys.
To answer a few questions. I get my titanium hardware from a mountain bike parts seller on eBay. Can get you name If interested. Come in gold and neo.
Im not sure if fan will be better. But im having issues with stock fan hitting my shroud with aftermarket radiator. Between the s13 clutch being shorter and fan blade design being angled I should fix that issue.
Sorry paint color is changing. Hoping nobody has done it yet. Super secret for now :P
Camshaft was a mixture of stupidity, medication/sickness and I still think they are weak cams.
I changed cams and quickly put it all back for a car show out of town the next weekend. When I started it it was very obvious the timing belt was too tight. But Ireally wanted to go. Soooo instead of staying home and fixing it i drove an hour to show. But it snapped on way home. Oh well. Learnby breaking. And now i know how to change and lap valves. And it has ARP studs now so that's also a bonus.Last edited by RWD_GTR; 08-03-2014, 03:55 AM.RB25 Powered RWD GT-R

That's what I have run on my car for years now (including the clutch). I didn't notice much difference in coolant temps. It's quieter and feels like more air is being moved at idle. Also that fan + clutch does sit slightly a bit higher, closer to radiator core than the stock R32 fan, clutch which made it a bit harder to fit. If have a thicker radiator it might touch when braking hard and the engine moves forward / tilts.
I have to make sure this is understood though; a fan has little to no impact when you're moving. Actually, I could see it slightly stalling flow at fast speeds. A quick back-of-the envelope calculation for a half meter square rad at 120kph shows me factor 40 difference in CFM; the cooling efficiency at speeds resides purely in the heat exchanger (the rad itself).
Also its been bugging me, and I know I'm always rocking the boat, but I have to say it; the GKteck fan's "propeller" design is wonky at best. Propellers are typically used in freeflow and not in shrouds...Last edited by MarusGTR; 08-03-2014, 11:55 AM.1992 BNR32 SKYLINE GTR

Granted you made some good points Marc but it's a freakin car fan. Velocities are to slow to get into "rocket science".

Turbofan=/=propeller.
You might want to notice that good duct fans have a wide flat end so to really shear that volume near at the duct's perimeter.
EDIT: Also I was more making a point that if you're going to buy a fan that says it'll make 60% more flow you're probably looking for a fan that has actual performance (like an upgrade). Even if its not rocket science, check most ducted fans you have at home, they have a wide end so to move more air so you get more performance, more your money's worth. Its not a matter of mach speeds but of engineering principle.Last edited by MarusGTR; 08-06-2014, 06:48 PM.1992 BNR32 SKYLINE GTR

couple finishing touches on the engine bay. no clutch fan install yet. waiting on a single arp stud to redo timing.
Got my 4 titanium bolts for my throttle body. unfortunately i couldnt find anyone who sold these in neo. so i improvised.
old ugly bolts.
comparison
heres what i did to them. take a torch to them. give them a heat treatment. first they turn gold like this. they purple. then blue and then a bright ugly color that should be avoided. i was aiming for purple and blue
looks great
all 4 of them finished.
installed
now this week i also got sick of the silver on silver bov. i switched it up. wrinkle black and Millennium Jade.
got all my silicone vacuum lines in the mail. autobaun88 4mm and 6mm.
old stuff. it was time to get rid of all the blue.
new. i also relocated my map sensors. hard to see them and lines? good. exactly what i was aiming for.
also finally got the rest of my hardware to install valve covers. all stainless. titanium was near $200. i couldnt afford it
main reason needing them was my old hardware was terrible looking and rubber was cracking really bad.
comparison
and all installed. the rubber washers didnt turn out. too soft. just squished out. oh well.
also brand new coilpack harness. old one had seen better days.
heres a sneak peek for next update. starting fixing rust for paint. it looks bad in this photo. it only gets worse. bondo hides alot.
thanks for looking!RB25 Powered RWD GT-R
