  • Skyline GTR R32 not starting sometimes

so my car wont start sometimes, it always starts with a push start but only starts with the starter sometimes, Like on a random occasion it decides to start one day and the second day it wont start. I never had this problem before. I dont think its my battery cuz that is fine, everything lights up and just doesnt start.

And sometimes it does. so im not sure. Can anyone please suggest something. Because if it was starter it should just not start period. but it does randomly.

Ya when it doesn't start is it not turning over. Or is it cranking and not firing up? If the teeth on the starter get stripped it will just make a higher pitched wine and not crank the motor and then it can catch a gear and then start normally. That's my only starter experience.

sounds like a loose wiring connection somewhere in your ignition wiring OR a possible starter issue. Sometimes the brushes that contact the stator get worn out or oddly shaped and it catches or does not allow current flow. Next time your car does not start, go to the starter and give it a few spirited "taps" with a rubber mallet or piece of wood and try firing it up, if it works, then you should rebuild the starter.

Check plugs and actual battery voltage as well. Just because the battery has enough voltage to light up lights doesn't mean it's enough to start the car.

As starters begin to fail, they randomly work. One sure fire way to tell if its the starter, next time you have a "no start" situation try to tap the starter with a hammer or something similar and try starting it again. Usually the starter contacts are worn and sticky causing to not start. Hitting it with a hammer jars them loose and lets the starter work. If it fires up, you know your starter is on the way out. Hope that helps.

Would be helpful to know if it's cranking or just going "click" and nothing happens or what. Even just a loose battery connection can cause your car to seem fine right up until you turn the key to crank it.

it just sits there with no clicks or cranks, just nothing and randomly when i play with the gear box or try pump the clutch it sometimes start . or one day it just started. my voltage on my battery is low too. how do i change the battery, its the battery that was om it from japan. The terminals look too small for a new battery. And how much cranking amps should i get for a new battery???

And im not sure where the starter is located?? can someone tell please. ?
