im going out to the local track this friday, i will be running 12-13psi, catback with cat delete, powerflow filter and mines ECU. and im bringing the 16s lol.

i hope to get a low 14 or high 13, i think im asking to much, but i pull my friends 180 decently with stock boost and he ran a 14.2 so maybe.

traction plays a way bigger role then i thought, if you can hook up, you might do it, im gonna get some decent tires on the back and i think ill be good for a 14 flat. I never would have guessed i would spin so much into 2nd and one guy told me spinning is the worst thing you can do and eats more time then you would think, i would focus on that primarily, as well as seat time, my first run was a 15.2 and with some practice i almost brought that down a full second.

      Are you in calgary?

nope i am in medicine hat.
how is the track up there nowadays, i remember when my dad ran his cuda in calgary you guys had a really good track.

yeah i didnt think i would spin in 1st 2nd and 3rd. i was told to not just mash the first few gears ( the 60ft will drop but the 1/4mile should pick up) my friend was running 13.9's but had a worse 60ft time than me.

So, if I ran 15,1 on my stock r33 gts with loaded trunk... It was not bad for the first time?! Next time ill try to use handbrake and will lower PSI in rear tires... Hope it will help...

Some fill to 26-28psi for rear tyre pressures.

Also some have dropped 1/4 time by 0.5sec+ with proper darg tyres. ECU retune is known to produce similar results (0.5sec).

Also raising ride height of car (to stock ride height) to reduce camber problems when rear squats. Another way is to use adjustable rear arms to eliminate the same problem. GTR's can go from low 10sec to high 9sec with this mod. Just cheaper to raise the ride height of car and get an alignment.

Hand brake technique is similar to a hill start with slowly removing handbrake as you accelerate. Takes some practice to get used to.

Can practice at light's on hills, flat ground, etc (might wear the handbrake pads inside rear rotors out if you do it too much).

Setting handbrake is another area that "might" make the technique harder to do.

The drift dudes loosen the handbrake cable for drifting. Creates a gradual engagement, not sudden engagement. Another way to adjust handbrake is via a round port on rear brake discs / rotors (undo round caps using flat head screw driver on rear rotors / brake discs, poke screw drive into hole and adjust) to get the hand brake handle a little bit higher thus less grip inside rear rotor and more of a slip start. Need to take rear wheels off to adjust handbrake via rotors / brake discs.

I ran 15.1 last night using hand brake technique and then tried just letting clutch out second run and got 15.2. Tires were spinning worse on second run and I fudged 3rd on first run.

i ran 14.1 3 weeks ago at cayuga with a slipping clutch and tire weren't hooking up. R/t was .076 so i was alright with that.
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

Need susupension upgrade to stop the wheel hop in first gear off the line. Serious time killer.

Actually the car hooked well except for first gear. My 60 foot was garbage constantly, i made it up on the top end. I'm putting some sticky 275 rears on and we'll see next year. I was on hard, and shot 255 tires. Talked to a buddy with a mustang that runs about the same 1/4 mile. I mile an hour him but his 60 foot are awesome.

So i made it to the track again and step it up.

-i swtiched to some 205 55s that actually had thread
                          -shady beaver guys chip
                          -and did a burn out

so with these 3 things i managed to step it up to a 60' of 2.25 and 14.1 @102 mph, launch was good but still spun lots in 2nd, i think i need some slicks to get in the 13s

I find a burnout doesnt help me much, the track I drag has a nice take off spot, somewhat sticky, plus I dont want to keep replacing my tires >_< ! On sport tires that is

Yeah usually i would agree but i have way to many 16s kicking around so i tend to burn them off lots, i heard doing a burnout on street tires is over kill anyways casue they get to hot and lose traction.

^^ no need to do a burn out on street tires, its a waste.
