I just picked up my Rb25 turbo from "Cherry Turbos" in St. Thomas, Ont. He slightly oversized both wheels in steel. The turbine and compre.ssor housings are the same but the chra is different. Pretty well bolt up except for coolant lines. The original oil feed and drain hook up. The coolant ports are now M16x1.5. Way cheaper than other alternatives but I will not be able to tell you how this turbo performs until spring. For the coolant ports I ordered -AN6x16mm adapters for use with stainless braided lines. Talk to Herman, he can tailor your turbo to your needs.
Awesome, cant wait to hear how it goes! And I was planning on running new coolant lines anyhow. The benjo bolts on the rb20 lines are too small for the ones on the rb25 so I bought aluminum fittings and -6 braided line

Just be aware the exhaust housing A/R can be too small on RB25 hybrid turbo and make the turbo surge unless you drive accordingly. On some RB25 hybrid turbo's they change exhaust housing (custom made exhaust housing) to compensate.
This is due to? Cavitation at high boost? Same can be said for RB20 over 16psi, you see manifold pressure get pretty sporadic on the dyno!

Well I located a used VG30DET turbo that can be shipped to my door for $450. Its not that I dont believe that the hypergear highflowing is good... but is it $800 good?? Haha
Whats the best bang for my buck??
Could I find a brand new turbo for cheaper than highflowing?
Sorry about all the questions... there are just so many ways to look at things and insight is appreciated from people with experience.
You can find an A/M turbo for LESS than 800$, but there is no certainty it will last. Your best bet IS highflowing. You can send it to Herman here in Ontario, it's a cheaper option than sending to Aus. But yes. Highflowing is a very good/useful and original option that provides a like new turbo for your specific application. Whereas a Vband/5 bolt (2871) etc will just increase the work load !

I actually just sent Cherry Turbo's an email but I dont expect a reply until monday. Would you mind telling me how much you paid to have your 25 rebuilt Craftz? It sounds like what you had done is in the same ballpark as what I would be aiming for.

Highflow turbo uses stock housings, stock CHRA, stock compressor wheel, stock exhaust wheel. But housings are ported, polished, exhaust wheel backcutted on the edge of each blade to increase flow. Alot of people get confused between the two.
This is surge at high rpm due to small exhaust housing A/R -
We came across some true compressor surge while performing some testing on one of our racer's drift Skylines. The BOVs were closed during the testing to mak...
Nelsonmxmarc, it should handle 16psi without problems. The exhaust housing A/R has changed due to bigger exhaust wheel.
A/R is Area of intake to exhaust housing / Radius of where exhaust wheel goes.
These here are a good option. Lots of guys in NZ use them for street, rookie drift ( link ) and then this one. Thats effectively the same turbo but only has the one option for the exhaust (.63 ) But it near direct bolt on. ( link )
