RB26 cams in RB20.....who really knows?

you need to get rid of those heavy 50+gram hydro lifters and change the oiling system for the head.
but it can be done.

From what I understand solid cams, solid lifters work better
(won't lockup) at higher rpm's hence why RB26 with solid lifters
can rev higher than R32 RB20 or R33 RB25 with hydraulic/lash lifters.
RB26 cams have different ramp rates, etc and when used with
hydraulic/lash lifters, it might damage the lash lifters at higher rpm's.
Solid lifters have to be adjusted once and while by using shims.
Lash lifters are self adjusting (non servicable) but do wearout
and get noisy.
Also cams will be timed differently with RB26 cams, so need
adjustable cam gears and if stock ECU is not retuned, like
with aftermarket cams, can get hard to start engine and
need to use a bit of throttle when starting engine.

read the aussie forums....i was into this as well
its very interesting, however you cannot use them ultimately...
It is stalling for a number of reasons, the most likely is that the cams are actually slightly mishapped...
also solid lifters are needed and the RB20 head uses hydraulic lifters...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQW1AAPi4tc heres a link to a video of what it sounds like...
Also since ur turbo cannot utilize the lift and aggressiveness of the RB26 cams your car will be slow and will lose all low end torque, but when boost starts to hit at around 4,000+ RPM you'll rocket...but once again this is harmful to your engine and is not a good swap...
THIS IS MY 2 CENTS BUT READ THE AUSSIE FORUMS FOOD STUFF ON THIS

RB26 cams in RB20.....who really knows?
OOOOK so we installed stock RB26 cams into a friends RB20 that was in need of some lifter attention so we stuck those in there and now the damn thing is slower, and it wont stay running unless your all up on the gas....WTF?
Now I hear you have to have the RB26 solid lifters and others say a new ecu tune but we dyno tuned it with a AFC NEO and it still stalls....any ideas?Tags: None
