On Dec. 5, 2007 the Japan Post Office made this announcement regarding shipments to the United States via surface. This will be of interest to our American customers:
Previously seamail to the USA was sent to the Oakland processing center on the west coast, but with the closure of this center in November this year, the mail will now go to the New Jersey processing center on the east coast.
Because of these changes, seamail sent to the USA will take two weeks longer than previously to reach it's destination.
