    Head gasket question..rb20

I did a search but couldn't really find anything on this topic. I bought a new rb20 with about 40,000 kms on it, my old rb20 had a blown headgasket so I bought arp studs and a tomei metal gasket but never put them in. I was just wondering if the block/head needs to be machined to make the gasket seal properly, I know this has to be done if the head is warped and what not but the engine has nothing wrong with it. (Just want to put it in so I have one less thing to worry about down the road.) Thanks in advance.

Be sure to clean the surface properly... Remove any old gasket material.

As long as your new RB20's headgasket is still intact you don't need to resurface most likely. Clean the surfaces and check the head with a straight edge for warpage. Cleaning the surfaces can be a pain, pick up some 3m roloc discs...they are amazing at removing gasket material and not damaging the aluminum head. You just need the fine ones.
