Sumitomo HTR Z III Vs. Hankook Ventus V12 Vs. Yokohama S.drive

    Hey guys,

I need new tires NOW, LIVE, ASAP!! ( my car is sitting on a jack stand!) I'm looking for your help, most likey will buy my tires in the next 24-48h.

By looking at Tirerack's pricing.. here's my 3 choices. all between 90 to 120$/ tires. Not looking to spend anymore money really, I'm too poor.

By going with Tirerack rating, the sumitomo would be a max performance tires compared to ultra-performance for the 2 others. so +1 Sumitomo

The reviews put the HTR first by a good margin and then S.drive and then Ventus. so another +1 Sumitomo.

Price-wise, 89$ per tire for the Hankook, 112$ for the sumitomo and 119$ for the yokohama.

So yes, I'm poor.. but if a tire is going to last me 3 seasons, I don't want to cheap out for 80$ and go hankook instead of HTR for exemple..

So I'm asking you guys, what do you think of those rating? should I rely on them or not?

Would the Ventus RS3 be a better choice considering they are extreme summer performance?

I have the V12's on my R33, they are a very good dd tire for the money, decent levels of grip and not noisy, but if you are going to track the car I would go for something stickier, they are a 280 treadwear afterr all. I have taken my car to 2 lapping sessions and 2-3 autocrosses over two years, lots left of the tires but they are starting to chunk up and they definitely get greasy as they warmup and that limits how far you can safely push them. I am upgrading to better track tires for next year as I intend to do more track days. Hope that helps!
