    RB20 ecu on a RB25?

    Hey everyone.
I was looking though my car after I gutted it and was a little shocked to see that my ecu had rb20 scribbled on the side of it even though I have a rb25. Is there ny reason that someone would run that combination?

    Thanks
    Cody

I have a rb25 PFC you could buy. Rb20 ecu on a 25 many times. I think if you type it in on skylienes austrailia you can find it quick. This is fairly common

Ya ppl do this all the time for rb25 nistune.

nistune in rb20 ecu then run rb25 (loses the VTT)
My Ctrl button has the 'C' scratched off it.

Use a 300zx ecu, i modify them internally to plug and play. and you keep vct control.

It's actually vvt I believe meaning variable valve timing allowing for believed performance but I really don't get why they did it. It never made in on the rb26 only the rb25 had them so they couldn't have been great. If possible get rid of the vvt and call it a day. I would like to know what other people would see in gain of having this option though

Simplest way to explane it to you, without going into detail of how it works.

VVT is nice to have, but extremely hard to tune. If stock try to keep it if you can.
If you plan on putting bigger cam, with adjustable cam gear, don't even bother with it.

If you do search I'm sure you can find dyno chart showing diff. between with VVT and without.
You should see better mid range power band WITH VVT.

If it was useless I doubt people would be paying the price HKS charge to have it install on RB26, aldo their version does have more degree of adjustablility, it's still a pain to tune.

Its not that hard to tune.... You can hook it back up with a window switch...
