    G'day!

Hi all, I just stumbled across your site when looking at some pictures of GTR's and thought I'd join up and say hi

I used to live in Vancouver, BC when I was a kid but moved to Australia when I was in the 4th grade. I've always been a huge fan of cars, and Skylines in particular :P I currently drive a 99' R34 GTR V-Spec but have had R32 GTR's and an R34 GTT in the past to name a few.

Just wondering what the Skyline scene is like over on the other side of the world. Are Skylines, and GTR's in particular common over there or are they like hen's teeth?

After reading through a few threads it seems like it's a nice forum you guys have, in which I hope to be an active member :P

    Regards,
    Lyndon

Thanks Jon! Do you guys meet up often for cruises? What ECU's do you guys usually run over there? Are there lots of tuners? What's the highest octane pump petrol available at gas stations? I've always wondered what the car scene is like in North America..When I picture it I think Fast and the Furious :P

haha! meet ups vary all over the country. out here in bc its pretty weak. there are a few big meets a year but nothing really skyline specific on the west coast. i believe they have had sky meets in the past but nothing this year. alot of the gtr guys are running power fcs. i personally am running a djetro. some of the guys with deeper pockets are running haltechs, or vconn. the highest octane in canada is 94 octane at the pump. however there are a few places in washington that sell 108 octane trick fuel at the pump.

Ah so on the modification side of things it's pretty similar. I've run PFC D-Jetro's on both my GTR's.; great ECU for the street IMO

Roughly how much does an R32 GTR with usual bolt ons (cat-back/intake etc) fetch over there?

Wow that's a lot cheaper than down here. You'd be looking at around $20,000 AUD (~$21,000CAD) locally.
Is there a process you have to go through to drive a RHD car? And say if I were to move back to Canada for work, would I be able to bring my 1999 R34 GT-R in as a personal import? I know you guys have a rule that only allows imports that are older than a certain age, but are there any exceptions?

There is an exception for personal use something like 6 months but I don't know the exact details. Someone on this forum does. Best chance I would say is move to bc again cause that's where the cars usually land and immigrants from Asia , also because icbc has a monopoly they have to insure most if not all cars because you don't have any other choices.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thinks there is an s15 in bc that was brough in under that rule
