    that brown slime....?

not sure if anyone else has it, but im just wondering.. is it safe or possible to just use a hose and push water into the upper rad hose attachement and flush out all that brown slime? is there a better way to do it?

thought i'd ask before attempting anything that might cause damage...

    thanks

if you were to do that i would recomend you use some kind of pre-filter since tap water has alot of junk floating around in it... other than that make sure you have your rad open top and bottom so that the water pressure has somewhere to go as well as a place for the junk to escape to...

you could also try to use a wet/dry shop vac and attempt to suck the gunk out...

the rad's been pulled, and the shop vac idea is pretty good, im more concerned that i would damage a gasket by forcing hose water through there.. but i don't think it'll be a problem eh?

well hose water isnt gonna create enough pressure to cause any damage, the engine would put more pressure on it from just running...

i would not use a pressure washer...lol... but even then i doubt you would have to worry if all the other ports are open since the pressure would have a place to go...

you might want to get yourself a type of wire brush/ pipe cleaner so you can push it down the opening and dislodge any other material that does not just wash away... might as well get as much gunk out as possible...

no...?... for sure not, just had a comp test come back 160's across the board... and its not oily.. everyone who pulls the rad always finds this same brownish liquid.. the coolant is always neon green as it should be, and theres no actual brown water in the coolant, it just seems to be slime stuck to the inside of the metal parts lol. probably caused by my original radiator, just a fresh one in now.

should mention, its very tough to flush unless you pull the thermostat out!! i got covered in brown slime water learning that the hard way lol

Just get a "rad flush" bottle from canadian tire. You put it in the system, add water, run the car a couple of minutes for it to warm up and then drain water.

You should see the stuff that came out last time I did one....nasty.

Shoulda just waited until it was all hooked up again than did a flush with some coolant system cleaner and a hose! Less mess!
I use the mr clean car wash gun with the charcoal filter to kill the harshness of the water to avoid deposits and chlorine.. Works pretty well

ps I am coming over to steal your rad this afternoon. My oem one looks way too ghetto now lol
