cant get door open

so over hte weekend couldnt get my door to close and latch after messing with it for a few minutes and locking and unlocking it it finally closed like normal. but then went to open it again and now it wont open...and when i try to unlock it with the key i cant turn the key

nope wont open at all

open the latch on the inside by removing the cover for the lock and latch than pull the rod with your hand

this is definitely a unique problem... how very curious... there's not a whole lot inside these doors that would make something like that happen.

maybe this story sounds familiar to you...
I recall one time when I was a child messing around with the latch mechanism on my parents van... I remember flipping a switch up and it jammed the latching mechanism open, so the door would swing closed but never latch! (probably like 12 or 13 years old at the time)... after fiddling with it again, I went to close the door again and this time it latched, but as you describe right now, it would not open again!

I don't know what the solution is, my dad spent some time swearing and fixed it though... did you or someone else mess with the latch assembly by any chance? lol
