Aircare + BOV to atmosphere = HIGH HYDROCARBONS : Solution ?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve

    everyone knows this scenario...

I know it all too well,,

AIRCARE test count - survey - How many times did it take you to pass ???

Would the temporary soultion while being aircared , be nuetering the BOV's by pinching off the vacuum hoses to the BOV ??

It could work, but in the process it may raise your NOx emissions. Emissions are bad that way, reduce one raise another. This is only at BOV release, but aircare doesn't focus on readings during shifting, only at idle and 50-60km/h if i'm not mistaken.

You can always remove it (them) for the test and then put it back in again. Lot's of people run without BOVs (me included) so it won't be an issue for some short term gain at AirCare time.

I'd remove atmo bov not just for aircare, but because it can make the car run like a turd if it has MAF's still.

best to run recirc BOV w/ a draw-thru MAF

If you have MAP or blow-thru MAF, atmospheric BOV is fine ( as long as the BOV is before the MAF)

has anyone heard of this ,,, HKS EIDS,,
seems like the answer to BOV to atm

or perhaps is there some sort of parm in powerFC that compensates for decel, and BOV affects?

Sounds like a good thing to have.

I'm not sure if atmospheric BOV is your problem, I have air cared my car with an atmospheric for the past 3 years and results are below.

I always put the stock exhaust / cat in. During the tests they never activate the BOV since they shift at a lower rpm. They only test at a steady 50km/h and an idle test, both tests should not be releasing air.

Has anyone used the Apexi NEO,,
apparently there is a setting that compensates for the BOV Rich problem also..

oh yeah and on a r33 gtr you need two of the HKS EIDS,,, one for each MAF...

With PowerFC, stock ECU you can play with decel settings. Stock ECU has a stop inject, inject, etc settings on decel which can be adjusted to suit when engine is cold, hot, etc.
