Trying to get behind turbo problems!!!

Ok so I have a set of hks 2540s, are any of you running them or even hks 2530's( I imagine they are roughly the same minus better response on the 30's) ? I would like to know what you guys did to make these work with your car. Reason being is I bought a set off a guy in the US and he said they we in good condition. I installed them and they smoked right away! Can you please help me out I am trying to get behind this whole problem!

Not so much on idle, just when driving. The oil seals are blown I'm sure. Does anyone have these? Did they use a restrictor? If so what sizing? I am asking for my money back from the guy that sold them to me because he said everything was in great working condition and obviously they are not. I'm just trying to figure out WTF happened here.

If you went from a jb to a bb turbo a restrictor is necessary.

Ditto Zacho's comments I run 2860-5's with an oil restrictor also, the ball bearings just need a light misting of oil, not a constant stream like the stockers. You will have to take care of this to stop the oil smoke.

I'm sure I have restrictors on there. Does anyone know what size of restrictors you would need?

    Hey Chris

If you remoived regular stock turbos and installed the HKS ones without installing the restrictors yourself you will not have them , If you need them you can get them at JRP for around $6 each ( think thats what i paid for mine last year) . If you have that much oil flowing through BB turbos you will burn oil as the pressure will push the oil past the seals.

I know you mentioned that at the show to me , if I had half a brain that day i would have said that at the time

They are easy to install , just undo the oil lines from the block and insert retrictors and reinstall lines .. Then clean out your intercooler and intake piping

Ok great I'm now super excited I was hoping it was something like this. Ya cortexx if you wouldn't mind that would be great. I'll shoot you the cash for them and get this taken at of once and for all! This means I prolly won't have to take the turboes off again! That's a bonus. I was going to do that tomorrow. Now I will just go clean everything up and prep it for those restrictors. I'll take pics when I install them just to make sure I don't f things up. I gotta get this thing running right so I'm not walking anymore. My feet facking hurt!

Sometimes, if you dont use restrictors, the oil seals could blow right away and not see changes in smoke, even after restrictors, since the seals are blow. Not always the case though.

    2540 are shufflers too, yuck
