Cams are at TDC but the bottom end wont turn over....help!

I just dropped in my block and head (rb26) this week .I installed the cams today ,set them to tdc and when I went to spin the crank to line it up with the oil pump mark, it spun for 1/4 of rotation then it just jammed...it woulnt turn over anymore.

    What could possibly cause this?
the car was out of gear , could it somehow be piston contact with the head/valves...

    need help asap !

I know with out the head on the block it's really easy to turn over since there's no compression. Did you set your valve clearance? I'm at this stage now and it's holding me back. I heard if valve clearnance isn't set right it the valve may contact piston and cause it to bend. Not sure if that could be why it's not moving.

What was the problem anyways? Cam degrees off? Normally its 20* for cams at TDC no?
