Looking to get a wideband. Input please

Hey guys,
Let me start by first saying i am unfamiliar with widebands so please be gentle .

I want to get a wideband gauge to monitor my afr's. Im curious if there is a kit by innovate or another brand that can replace my oem o2 sensors without upsetting the ECU which has been tuned with Nistune.
I've searched google about widebands and alot of what i read goes in and out faster than i can blink.

OR

would any of you recommend another option?

I figured there would be no better people to ask then those that tune these cars.

The reason im asking about replacing my oem o2's with a wideband kit is i figure for a little more $$ you get brand new o2 sensors as well as a gauge to monitor afr's. where as i could get just a wideband gauge and sensor and then sometime down the road i might have to replace my oem o2's and it would have been more cost effective to just get a kit to begin with.

BUT as i said before, im unfamiliar with widebands so i don't even know if such a kit is available. From what ive read i think innovate makes this though.

PLEASE give me you opinions!

Im not sure if a wideband will replace a O2 sensor, I am currently running 2 wideband sensors. I have 2 bungs welded into my test pipe,one of them is for my innovate LC1 sensor that is directly hooked up to my Vipec ecu and the other is the AEM wideband that I have mounted in my drivers side heater vent so I can see it at all times. They are simple to install and as far as Im concerned they are a "must have" in any forced air vehicle(gas). Are you running a high flow cat ? if so there is a good chance it has a place for your sensor to be installed

Ive got a "cat delete" with a bung ready to go. but i was unsure if installing in the cat delete would be too far from the turbo's or not. I am starting to think that maybe getting a decent uego or something could be the way to go?

i say stay away from the uego. i had one in my integra and the sensor **** out within months. i used to work at lordco and a few ppl brought them out complaining the sensor was crap. i now have a innovative lc1 and love it! the gauge itself is so thin too.

I went with an innovate too for my GTR and its easily one of the best things ive bought for my car, I highly recommend you get one!

I researched running my AEM UEGO in place of my stock o2 sensor but this was not advised. Your stock o2 sensors are within 12 inches of your turbo outlet and the wideband sensors are recommended 3 FT from the turbo outlet or else they will burn out quicker. Mine is at the bottom of the dump pipe before my cat delete. This allows me to run a cat for aircare etc and still have a wideband running. The wideband can relay back to an ECU through the single white wire and set to PO4 on the wideband, however I read that the reading is not as consistent as the stock o2 sensors output. I am going to run the white wire into a serial connector for logging purposes only when I get nistune installed.

On the GTR note, the RB26 requires 2 o2 sensors where as the wideband only supplies a single sensor. The optimal position is on the dump pipe after the 2 pipes merge or as far back as the cat delete. They should never be installed after a cat.

thanks guys im going to look into an innovate lc1. if its not going to cause an issue then i will mount it in the pre-existing bung that on my cat delete. anyone in bc know where i can get one locally or should i order? Im assuming mopac would carry this item?

The innovate is a higher quality then the AEM, I havnt had any issues with the AEM unit and they are both within .1 on the readings so i dont question the accuracy of the AEM.

I use the Innovate LC1 , the only reason they fail is if you dont have them facing slightly downwards . This has to be done to allow the draining of condensation when the exhaust cools after you shut off the engine . The heat in your dump pipes is not much difference than the heat where the downpipe is 2 into 1 . Condensation (especaially during storage) is the main killer of o2 seonsors , check the factory position in any car , they are always in a draining position.

I bought the Innonvate LC-1 with the DB blue gage http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/db.php and mounted it with a small hand made angle bracket siliconed into place covering the dead clock. I too have Nistune and having it located here doesn't interfere and get in your face at night. You can't replace the OEM O2's with this one but if you tune your ecu well enough you can do like me and just unplug them cause they have no effect on performance or milage. Mine have been unplgged over a year now. I'd be curious to see your bin file too .

edit: I bought mine on line and had it shipped for free to blaine to a post office box and then cleared customs with it myself. Half the time the guard just lets you go when you declare it at the gate and half the time you go in to pay, the gamble pays some time.
