My tranny make an AWFUL sound!!!

Okay guys.. I can't say exactly when it happened but I know I went to the drag not long ago ang then the next day I did some stupidity but gtr can take abuse right?

So at one time, when I turned down my music, I heard that awful sound coming from the tranny. It's very loud and it seems like a rumble sound. Something like something was loose inside the box.

However, when I engage the clutch in the neutral position I dont hear it anymore and when I drive, I doesnt heard it too. So it's pretty much only in neutral at stop light and such.

Any mechanic point of view ? Is there an ''extra piece'' in neutral that could of been loose and make the tranny rumble like this? or could it be that one of my tranny suppport is broken and with all the rumble of the engine at idle make the tranny rumble? but in this case, why does it stop rumbling when I engage the clutch..

So if the noise is only there when you press the clutch, it's the release bearing.

Nail on guys. wow you were quick. thanks very much I'M such a noob at mechanic haha but I love detailing tho.

So... what should I do? can I keep driving the car or it will break ? I mean... there's only 1-2 month left to the season so..

If it we're a tercel I would say it's ok. But you probably have a hd clutch with mucho load. So I would change it.

its also good to properly adjust your clutch pedal free play after you change the bearing. Many people skip this step and cause premature wear.
