    Smallest Winter Tire

I'm getting some winter tires for my GT-R. Wondering if anybody has managed to go as small as say.. a 195/65/15? I realize that's pretty ridic small, but i'd like to get it pretty skinny. I guess it would probably come down to offset in this case? I've read that people can get 15" steelies on the GT-R, but not sure what sizes. I've done a fair amount of calculating and the 195 would be about the skinniest i could go in a 15, without the diameter difference wrt stock is too great.

Ok, I'll make my question a little more reasonable. Could I fit a 215-60R-15, on steelies? I'm assuming at least some people have tried to run 15's for winter, unfortunately after plenty of searching I can't find good info.

hmmm good to know. I have a feeling 14's would never fit on the GT-R though. and I'd be worried I couldnt keep the diameter high enough. I think its pretty hard on the gtr tranny if your diameter is out by more than 1.5 or 2%

Can anybody tell me with certainty that 15's will work on an R32 gtr?

LOL.. You are such a joker.. You are talking about your Accord right?
I dont think ANY of the 15inch wheels will be able to clear the GTR brakes. They are just too small. Try to get some S14 5 lug 16inch wheels. I just sold a set a while ago for 120 bux. They are cheap and will clear the brakes fine. Try 205/55/16 for tire size.

Ok. I'll accept that. I'd have to agree, it looks like 15's would be sitting on the callipers. Thanks for the input harvey.

Narrower tires is supposedly a myth according to all the tire shops I've even dealt with. It's best to stick with what the car comes with for stability and all that crap. speaking of which, I have a set of OEM sized Marangoni's (badass italian winter tires) with lots of life left. Was gonna use them on my 240 but fitting a 16" rim is too much work for now.... PM for pricing.

I have a bunch of stock GTST rim sets... letting them go from 100-150$.. I'm located in Montreal though.
GTST rims would probably be ideal, as you know they fit, their offset is mega cheesey but its for winter so who cares, and they're 6" wide which is ideal

ok, last question. I've read that it would be hard on the gt-r tranny to run a tire with a total diameter much different than the stock diameter. Obviously in a fwd or rwd, you can run diameters that are way off, and will only change your speedo. But in the case of the gt-r's awd tranny, will it be a cause for concern? I'm searching for tires that are under 2% difference from stock. but will it be 'disastrous' if I go with a tire such as 205/60/16 which is ~3.25% difference in diameter. I'm not convinced that the transmission will think that it needs to transfer torque just because the OD of a full set is different than stock.
