    Gtr fender rust

So I just picked up a gtr and the rear fenders have a fair amount of rust on them. I am able to use a welder but I'm wondering how everyone else would go about getting rid of this problem. I'm just looking for some input on this. I plan to tackle this within the next 2 weeks so any ideas would be great

    got a pic?

All depends on how bad it really is and sometimes its hard to tell before you get the grinder on it. Lots of the times you can just cut it out, grab some sheet metal and piece it back together. If its super bad, then find another quarter and use what you need, but thats not as common. Hopefully your not into it too bad. If you need to piece in a bit, than its only a full days work to get it prepped for paint.

Chances are if theres a fair amount of rust on the quarters visually, theres a lot more on the interior of the panel. I chose to get new quarter panels from Nissan. $700 each tho.

I can get 2 brand spanking new ones for 500 plus shipping but I don't know if that's the route I will go yet. It is an option but I was wondering if there was and easier way then just chopping the entire fender off and starting fresh

That is the easiest in my mind. Its a permanent fix, not a patch job. Once you get the entire fender off and check out what your really dealing with underneath, you'll be glad you went that way. Its more peace-of-mind than anything.

Agreed I will have to talk to my friend in jaaaaaapan and see if he can hook me up. If I were to replace these, do you guys happen to know if the replacements are metal? I just want to know if I can use a mig welder for this or if I have to get my hands on a tig

Exact same material as the original ones. The replacement quarters come all the way up to the the roof, but I would suggest cutting around the middle of the side and rear window as it is an easier spot to deal with and rust should be an issue that far up. Unless you dont want to pull the glass, then go lower.
