    ECU harness mess

I was preping the car to install a wideband, PFC boost controller, PFC and Datalogit.
I pulled the ecu out and noticed a bit of electical tape so I pulled the plastic conduit off and this is what I found. I'm quite sure Nissan doesn't do work like this.
Everything under the hood looks untouched and oem.
If anyone recognises any of the wires or can shed some light on what might be going on here I'd apprecaite it.
I'm going to trace the wires and see which ones are tampered with by refering to the manual.
    Thanks for any input!

Thats all oem. Your not the first person to think thats weird. When I was a young punk and seen that for the first time on my SR I completely tore it apart and soldered and heatshrinked the entire harness. That brown thing is for all the grounds and lots and lots of other wires split. the wires that are covered are things like o2 sensor, knock sensors. They have extra shielding to protect it from electrical interference or at least thats what I figure. Its the messy part of the harness and thats why they have that black plastic thing that you took off to expose all that mess cuz it wont fit in loom like you think it should. So you can put it all back and leave it or do what I did and waste a day or two soldering and shiz.

Great thanks SO SO much for the input. My concern was with reliability or improper signals getting to the ecu. I didn't want to go adding the previously mentioned parts without making sure the "foundation" was solid.
    Thanks again!

Hi! Are going to "tamper" the oem ecu harness? You could save it from solder, splice etc. w/ a jdm extension ecu harness like these http://www.rhdjapan.com/field-one-to...ssan-pt1-55225. Tap things such as Bee-R rev limiter w/o touching the oem wires.

By the way my oem harness is a bit messy w/o the tape but not like those in your pic though.

I spread the wires apart after I opened the rubber covering. That's why it looks like such a mess. I'm just plugging the harness right into an Apexi PFC. Nothing else... at this point.

    Thanks

Since stripping my car I also noticed on my ECU some wires are completely cut and just hanging there. Theres a red one thats just cut and hanging, theres a black really really skinny one cut and just hanging there. As much as I hate wiring Im gonna have to check every wire now so Im not off the wall about things interfering or not working like they should.
