ACT 6 puck - Any one used one?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for opinions for my new clutch.

I've been looking at the ACT sprung 6 puck. Has anyone tried this clutch? It's for my daily driver. I don't mind some clutch chatter or harsh engagement but I do need to be able to handle some slipage for traffic and parallel parking.

    Thanks

You won't notice any difference in pedal pressure and it doesn't chatter at all it's a single plate and it's sprung. Mine wouldn't slip at all under 350whp but after that it tried to self destruct - found cracks through the entire pressure plate and large chunks of clutch material had broken off. For the record I have never drag raced my car or launched it - not even once. This was only after about 850kms. It's a great clutch for low powered (350whp or less) cars but if you plan on running more power just save up and buy a twin itl save you time and frustration in the future.

Thanks for the reply. Certainly doesn't add any confidence to getting the ACT clutch.

I wanted a twin plate but I actually spun a rod bearing and am in the middle of a light rebuild.. So, this time around, I'm stuck on the cheaper side of things.

i got one in my vert. Im using a rps pressure plate and a nismo flywheel. I got roughly 300hp and thats all the clutch will take. I abused it hard a few times and started to smell. I dont think it could take much more in a performance environment but with that said, its still holding up fine.

My RPS clutch does fine.. Too heavy for daily use but once you get used to it, its not bad

Get unsprung clutch though (will save you tons of break in time)

Mine has been fine did like ten 7k drops at the track its still good I have 5 000 km on it so far. I got one that holds like 512 or something like that for cheap.

I believe mine was the max to so it was rated at 550 torque which it didn't even come close to. Honestly though if you are running under 350whp you can use this clutch with confidence. There won't be ANY change in pedal pressure since the clamping force is exactly the same as oem they kept it like that on purpose. Do not get a unsprung clutch, you will regret it after about 3 engagements. Unsprung clutchs are notorious for breaking drive train parts due to the harsh engagement and completly unnecessary for your setup.

    Thanks for the reviews guys.

Still on the fence about it but I think I'll give it a try. It's really the only "brand name" clutch I can afford right now. Hope it works out...

I'm going to be bumping up the boost in a few months and I guess we'll see how it holds up.

Check Ebay, I saw a Gmax clutch there for 650 US not long ago, then you can order replacement disc's from japan or I heard ACT can make them.
