Importing GTR soon need advice

Hi

New to the form and the GTR world, I'm currently working with Feast Auto to import a GTR and getting pretty close to getting one.

There is tons of info on here and I've been reading for 3 days lol so please don't flame me for not searching and reading because I have, just that there is tons of info.

Few lingering questions I have

My main question is what kind of maintenance/ improvements would you make to the GTR off the bat? I know of some change fuel filter, clutch, spark plugs and timing belts but are there any others you recommend

And would it save me money by ordering the parts from Japan at the same time as the car or are there shops in BC that have parts in stock ( I knew of SCI and Z tune but I think these guys are no more).

Any shops in the Vancouver area that anyone recommends?

Also coilovers? Any that you guys would suggest?

I'm going to be using the car as a daily driver and as for mods I'm looking to build up to about 450 slowly. Any suggestions on parts to buy and send with the car will be much appreciated.

Yeah DD should be fine. I've seen a few in my neighborhood that seem to be DD'd. Us I have backup cars just in case the worst should happen

I would do this when I first get the car here:

- change all fluids
-oil pump
-water pump
-timing belt
-spark plugs
-coil packs

And for better ride new coilovers. That's just what I would do

get as many parts from japan and cram them into your gt-r that you're getting shipped here ...worst case if you don't use the parts u can sell them .... don't have to pay to get them shipped here from japan when u can get em shipped with your car >>> but yea change everything ^ he said and add a clutch to that list

buy a gtr thats already here and has some stuff done to it, save $$ in the long run cause someone elses project is always cheaper than starting from scratch

I think you need to assess what condition you are getting your GTR in and go from there. Although you are planning to get to 450 you also said you were planning to move slow so you wont need everything right away. It wouldbe helpful for you to give us more info on what you are picking up, year: condition, kms, etc.

Regardless here are the questions I can answer:
You should change all fluids, filters, and spark plugs when it arrives no matter what. Compression test should be done as well. You should also have a thorough inspection done by a shop knowedgable in Skylines when it lands.

You will only need to do the timing belt if it is near 100,000 km (check service logs it may have already been done). If you do the timing belt then the oil pump should be done at the same time.

Unless the clutch is toast why would you change it immediately? You might as well wait until the hp rises before changing.

You should also let us know if you plan to race the car and what type as this will affect what parts we suggest.

Most people that DD their sportscar usually do it cause they can't afford a second ride. Then realize they can't afford to fix their broken car either, when it happens.

Then there's dingdongs that keep pumping money into their weekend cars and rarely get to drive them.

If I could take back the last 6 years of GTR ownership, I would have bought an STI cause it'd be cheaper and have warranty while still being quick. Now Id have to part out parts few people want to sell one of these cars lol

Looking for a 93 or 94, I like the r32's. Low kms as I can below 100,000 for sure.*

I don't plan to race the car just the odd track day prolly 3 or 4 times a year.*

I wanna take thinks slow with installing the mods (don't have the know how to work on the cars myself and labour is expensive) but I have the availible capital to buy parts from the start.*

Wow now this worries me. I plan to keep this car at least 4 years, are you saying the RB's are not that reliable? Is this the consensus of most ppl on this forum. The R32 has been on my list of "must own once in a lifetime" list of cars. The potential, the looks and ability of the car all appeal to me. But if maintainance on this puppy is gonna be astronomical then I'll leave it. Trust me I know the cost of maintenance is important I got a Ferrari 355 that has a 12k service every 3 years now that is ouch.*

How much is maintenance on these a year roughly. I'm not taling when stuff breaks, just regular maintainance?

Im not sure what the cost would be annually, I do know it would be less than a ferrari's.. lol The gtr can be quite reliable but you have to keep up with too... When you make modifications, you need to be sure to do them in a order that will keep your RB running strong.. I would suggest getting a R33. You may have less issues and the engine changes from a r32 will help you in the long run, oil distribution, turbo's ect...
