I think real world numbers will be little better than what they have there. I'd expect little closer to the Z-tune numbers...
Porsche Turbo and Corvette Z06 (priced almost the same as what the GTR is, or so Nissan says). They out classed them both with the Z-tune so i am sure they can with the new GTR.
uh.. the z-tune retailed at $180,000 (and actually selling for much more) and less than 25 were made.
It's not the same thing as building a mass-production vehicle that has to compete in the north american market.
For the new GT-R to be competitive, Nissan will have to try hard as hell to keep the weight down to a minimum.
Also, the Z06 destroys the new 911s (except maybe new 911 Turbo... that thing is a beast).
I expect the GT-R to cost about the same as the C6 Z06 with slightly worse performance... maybe it will slot in right between the C6 Z06 and the 911 Carrera in terms of price and performance.
Then again, all of this is wild speculation since we don't really know any concrete details in terms of weight or expected power output.
I realize the Z-Tune is not the same thing. But my point was they did it with that Skyline so a lot of things can be applied to the new GTR. Kind of like the Z06 has a lot of things from the C6R ALMS/Le Mans Car.Originally Posted by spd-dmn
Imagine peak torque of 450 lb.ft at under 2000 rpm. And it's NOT a diesel truck! Beast is an understatement!Originally Posted by spd-dmn

I enjoyed a writeup on the new 911 Turbo that described the electronically controlled multiplate clutch in the transfer case that beats the heck out of passive hydraulically coupled systems. (For some reason, I think Porsche did this a long time ago, but reverted to the passive system.)
Anyhow, I love reading about hot new technology on the latest supercars that isn't that different than what's on my (summertime) daily driver!
That's what made me laugh hard enough to post this. People are so hungry for details they (read 'I') enjoy even imaginary stuff!Originally Posted by spd-dmn
