Not Quite a Skyline, but RB26 Powered :)

    Greetings Guys

I'm a long time Z32 owner (approaching 5 years) and just recently I had become interested in doing an RB26 Swap into my chassis. I have been running the VG30 motor for quite a while now, and i can honestly say I dont have too many complains other than the fact that its extremely tough to work on because of the space constraints and the size of the motor.

During the last few years I have done quite a bit of drag racing, and I would safely say at this point that drag racing is my most favorite out of motorsports. it is because of my calling that I decided I wanted the RB26 swap. Large power can be made, and a single turbo conversion is easy (very tough on a VG30 motor) My old VG motor made 540rwhp on pump gas and ran its best 11.2@124mph on drag radials and pump gas.....

A pic of the old setup

With that being said, I give you my currently "under construction" RB26 Z32

Complete R32 Motor Arrived on Pallet. Contained R33 Ecu, and complete trans & wiring harness

We pulled the tranny off to find an almost brand new OS Giken Triple Plate Clutch

Tearing the motor down for maintenence

Tomei 1.2mm 5-Layer headgasket and ARP Headstuds going on

Head hot tanked and bolted on

    Pulleys installed

For the transmission we took a Z32 trans and an RB25 trans and mated them together. The bell housing from the RB25 transmission bolts right up to the Z32 trans. This also allows us to use the stock Z32 transmission mounts, driveshaft, shfter, and electronics....

Here is is all bolted up to the motor

    Test fitting inside the car

Test fitting the turbo and manifold with the motor outside of the car

Now the motor is setting in the car on my new mounts we've fabricated. We removed the core support center piece, but it is fully usable. It simply bolts back on with two 10mm nuts

You can see the hood closes and everything fits nicely

This is the point where we are at right now, but in the meantime I also had to have a roll-cage installed in the car to be legal for drag racing. Here are some pictures of that

    Swingout bars

Anyways, thanks for viewing and if any of you are itneresting in following this build more closely I have my own web forum at www.rbz32.com with 50 or so members who are guys interested in doing the swap or are in progress.

    Thanks

    Andy

ya supra style turbo!!! I will be going around the same route as you later on, I enjoy quick spool but I also enjoy staying out of boost for fuel reasons . How much are you attempting to make out of the engine?

Ah, combing my two fave thing about early 90's Nissans: the RB26 and the Z32! Good luck, get her done!

No clue honestly. I dont see anyone really running this turbo/manifold setup. I just ordered CP Pistons and Pauter Rods yesterday for the build, so I should be able to push some good amount of boost........I guess we'll see

When you used the ARP studs, did you Torque the head to factory spec or use ARP's molly and suggested torque?

    Nice build up.

I always use ARP's suggested torque specs. For these studs I believe the rating is 86ft/lbs....using the ARP moly lube
