TSS Project "This was Supposed to be stock"

This is a build we did for one of our GTRC members this winter.
It took alot longer than it was supposed to but over all we were very happy.
We had a Customers GTR show up on a hook a while back complaining of a loud knock in the engine.
He told us a story of a spirited drive in the mountains and a nice revmatched downshift on his way home and than this.
bought the car and drove it for a total of 3 weeks before the build.

    History on the car.
    1991 GTR
    1 owner
    55k original documented km's
    Mint Stock condition

Fire it up and sure enough, spun rod bearing.

So out it comes and we tear it down.

    Pictures will explain it better.

ok the the bearings are shot and the 1 rod is shot.
Looks like the previous owner didnt like oil changes.

    As for the pistons

ok so the previous owner never opened it up to clean the cylinders either.

send it out to the machine shop
    all pistons are scored.
    Block is saveable.
    2 rods are bad.
    Crank is bent
    So we start the build.
it started off just being a stock rebuild with oem parts.

and when it was over we had

JUN 2R Head kit (264x9.7mm cams, springs and titanium retainers)
    Cometic 1.0mm Steel head Gasket
    JUN Steel intake gaskets
    JUN Hardened Head studs
    Wiseco .50 over forged pistons
    Carrillo H-Beam Rods
    ACL Race series bearings
    New OEM R34 Crank
JUN Drive collar(i know , i know the new crank is ok, we just like how much bigger the drive is on the JUN piece)
    N1 Oil Pump
    N1 Water pump
    Garret GT2860R turbos -5
    Heat wrapped manifolds
    ported and polished head .
    NGK #6 Iridium plugs
    NISMO solid shift
    NISMO engine mounts
    NISMO Copper mix twin clutch
    http://img504.imageshack.us/my.php?i...dsc0127pc9.jpg
    http://img522.imageshack.us/my.php?i...dsc0134cl1.jpg

So now we have a Bone stock mint GTR
with the heart of an animal.

he will be upgrading more in the future once he pays off the build.

    Thoughts?

One of the neatest GTR's i have driven
    Total sleeper.

    Nice work!
That engine in the first pic does not look like an engine with 55k on it!

    Sounds sweet!

It'd spool sooner and have better off-boost performance with a higher compression ratio. With the power potential of the parts, an oil cooler wouldn't hurt either. (Not to mention FMIC and rad... but this stuff all co$ts...) I've heard the OEM O2 housings are pretty restrictive too. Add a nice set of HKS ones and breathing will be even better.

I love the idea of hiding all the good parts. Walk softly and carry a big stick!

    Cheers,
    Dan

If this is the car that I'm thinking of, it already has an oil cooler and inter-cooler A Koyo aluminum 2-core was also added.
The GT-R is like a condom... It's better to have one and not need it then to need it and not have one!!
