RB30 Build!

So after an insane detonation on cylinder 1, (melted a chunk of the piston, you can literally put your pinky finger through the hole and touch the first ring) i was sooo bum f**ked that i thought of selling the shell. i was literally depressed for almost 2 weeks. then for some reason i woke up one morning hungover and decided i was gonna rebuild this car to its former glory.

The body of the car is flawless, just needs a few rock chips painted in. so that leaves the interior and motor.

Interior i had gutted the carpet and soundproofing previously and pimped it out with 2 BRIDE low max carbon kevlar seats. and a few guages. nothing really dramatic, i wanted it keep it civilized.

so that leaves motor.

First things first, took the head off and sent it out to get checked. so engine builder says motor is clean and wasnt damaged in detonation. so first thing i do, tell him to machine it, ordered a set of stage 3 HKS cams, Ferrea Sodium Filled Titanium Valves, new Springs, 5 Angle Job, and a Full race Port and Polish.

Head done, Bottom end now...

i had looked at all the 2.8L stroker kits and all that stuff. but i thought that everyone had those. so i kept digging and i came across the Exvitermini Skyline. thought it was cool and kept digging.

2 Weeks go by, no motors really inspired me. then just for the hell of it i searched "Race Motors" in GTRC's search, and looking over a few threads, then there it was "RB30" click it, RIPS Racing in New Zealand. that names rings a bell in my head. then i remembered. i was in Hong Kong and i had bought a Redline Magazine a few years ago and they had an article on RIPS racing. so i went to go look for it in my room, S**T luck i still had it.

Thats it, that was the motor i was gonna use, so after a few calls and a few emails, finally sent some dough over, and the fully forged bottom end should be here within the month.

I havent decided yet on turbos, if i was gonna keep em or change em but i have a feeling the new block will wear out the x2 GT2863's, who knows maybe do the x2 HKS T51R's

anyway i will update this post with pictures throughout, this car should be tuned and ready before the spring. so far everything is running smoothly. i hope it all goes this well. plzz plzz wish me luck.
