    Ben's Project

Just a recap of what I've picked up already that was in my Green Bastard project thread.

The R33 crank I bought managed to crack sitting in a box in my basement:roll: Mcfly feel free to refund my $1200 anytime asshole

I ended up Grabbing Anthony's shell (wingnut)

    Waiting for a heart beat

Some Barely used parts that I grabbed off Anthony

    Coppermix Clutch

Head w/3 angle valve job, exhaust humps removed, and GReddy cam gears. Obviously a bit dirtier than this right now

Even grabbed his Le mans spec turbos

    Some more Stuff I've purchased

That's just about it for now. Need to pick up another crank and new bearings and I can finally assemble this skank

I agree on the wheels, if you end up with another set of those gunmetal te37s (for a good price), let me know!!

See that's funny, for one I never sold you the crank. It was sold to Braden thirteen months ago now and prior to being sold it was Magnafluxed at EC Automotive Machining as I had fully intended to use the crank in my own engine. When Braden came to me 11 months after the original purchase demanding money back there was no help from me and there never will be.

During the eleven months that the crank was not in my possession it's anyones guess as to what it was subjected to. There are two other identical cranks being used right now, one of which is making 1066whp and spinning 11k rpm.

Now if Braden had come to me after receiving the crank and said "hey this is cracked" (which it most definitely was not) I would have been more then happy to give the cash back. Eleven months is a very long time to abuse something.

Lol you don't even know what you're talking about. I bought the crank off you and I came to you asking why it was cracked. Braden has nothing to do with this. If you don't even know who you sold it to you probably don't know much about the crank... Your whole time frame argument is irrelevant and weak as it's been sitting in a box since purchased. I'm lucky to even find these 2 cracks because they are so small. Even after 11 months

I've talked to several machine shops and sent the pictures out to a few crank specialists. The consensus is

    A. Judging by the numerous black dots on that specific journal. It is a welded journal. They tend to crack at the oil passages during the welding process. What do ya know

B The oil passages obviously have been machined which could have cracked during that process.

Do these "identical cranks" have oil passage machining, ground mains or a welded journal with cracks on it??

Theirs alot of work done to this crank. You say you had it was magnafluxed. Prove it.

I'll be doing some tests to see what kind of abuse these can take before they crack like that. I bet they're will be dents all over it before it cracks. Mine has none what do you know

So unless you're going to pay me GTFO this thread. I don't expect you to but as long as everyone knows what kind of person you are I don't care I even offered to be nice you to pay half so I can get a used crank to throw in. You still keep the money for yourself and your greedy 40k build

/In for build progress. Looks like some good stuff.

One thing though, if you spent 1200$ on something, wouldn't you check it out and look it over before x number of months passed? I had my set of rims come and the day they got here I looked at all the boxes and colours before I went on a trip and all was well. Opened up the boxes when I got back (1 week) and saw one of the wheels that was in the correctly labelled box, was actually the wrong offset very slightly (checked the stamp on the inside). Don't know about you guys but when I drop 1200 on something, I usually look it over really good when I get it especially if its used.

He did look at it yes, but if you knew exactly how small these cracks are you would understand how you easily could have missed it. It wasn't until he pulled it out of the box to do all the clearances etc.. that we noticed them and just by luck, I thought it was a scratch or hair at first. If this had been installed in the engine it most likely would have caused failure.

Crack is literally thinner than a hair and about 1cm long.

For the record, I didn't purchase this crank. My motor was already built when he received it. Here is Ben's original thread with him receiving the crank (Post 2, Page 3) : wtb gtrr32 front re-bar and rad support

yeah that was my mistake, i saw JNS imports and mixed up the thieves.

My bad. Either way. Crank was in impeccable condition when it left me.
    Good luck with your build.
