I hope you know what youre getting yourself into. an 8 sec 1/4 mile is a whole new world.. will take alot more planning and time than you think.
What kind of plans have you got in mind? would be interesting to hear. very curious as to what kind of transmission setup you'll be building to get this thing down the strip that quick

also, i think 1800$ for used -5's is a bit steep.. you can find them BNIB for less.. might want to revise that price

RedBaron R32GTR was built by a privateer and ran into 7sec bracket with sponsorship and manually shifted gearbox.

Mid 8sec is fairly easy with stockish drivetrain, Holinger sequential gearbox, upgraded diffhead's, 1100awhp at 11,000rpm on proper dragslicks, Veilside torque split controller, etc. Apexi proved that with their R33GTR dragcar. But had to keep an eye on front propshaft, as they mentioned it can twist.

For engine, you'll need a dry sump setup, forget about running a wet sump setup, as you'll be going through engines at a fast rate. Alot of people have learnt this lesson the hard way with GTR.

Custom Bogart rims with dragslicks (HKS R33GTR, Heat Treatments R32GTR, etc). Or stock forged R32GTR rims with dragslicks have worked for Croydons R32GTR.

Also upgraded hubbearings with wide dragslicks.

Bilstein shocks with King? springs is good for high 7sec 1/4 mile.

The cost of running, rebuilding engine, changing hubbearings, etc when they wearout more than once will be the hard part. But sponsors help with that.

Or probably could get a airshifted GTR gearbox from Liberty, so setup to go faster if you want to -

Probably need to modify driveshaft tunnel to fit, service parts on gearbox.

I'm all for insane cars and good luck to your build... But trading a down payment on a home for a fast car is the dumbest decision you could possibly make and I PROMISE you'll regret it... Unless your pockets are Mariana Trench deep
