    My R33 GT-R

Hey, This isn't much of a build thread, but just want to show a bit about my car and the stuff that had been done on her so far.
First, here is a quick introduction of my Skyline GT-R ownership!

My very first GT-R, bought at Zele International back in 2005. Pretty much stock and in mint condition!

I had to sell her to move back to Japan again! I really loved that car!

Then in late 2008 I bought this mint, 1996 Silver R33 GT-R V-spec. Again from Zele International

Sadly, she got stolen only 6 moths after I bought her, and I apparently didn't have theft coverage on my insurance. i'm still pissed about that! And that the cops here do nothing about it!

So down 2.5 Million Yen, I was on a limited budget to find something fun to drive to cheer myself up after dealing with the car theft BS! So I found this nice, clean, low mileage 1992 Efini RX-7 Type S Montego Blue.

I love that car, I still have it and is my future project car! It helped me alot, trying to let go and forgetting having got the GT-R stolen! Actually, I honestly thought, that car was it for me and that my GT-R ownership ended for good!

But about 2 months before the Nismo Festival was on in 2009 my sweet wife just came up to me and said that I should start shopping for a new GT-R. I was surprised, and so I did!

I went to look quite a few R33's and some R32's and got disapointed time and times again over the misleading ads, and cars that looked way better in the pictures then in the flesh.

I got tired of wasting my time and simply went back to the Zele International web site to check out their stock. Then I found her! A clean 1996 R33 GT-R in super rare KH3 black colour. I drove up to Zele International to have a look at it, and as soon as I got to see her, I know that it was the right car for me! The next day, I went again with my wife, took her for a spin and bought her on the spot!

Ok, so my KH3 GT-R is a standard one (no big deal for me!) and she only had 73K Kms when I bought her. Now I'm at about 75K Kms! The timing belt, tensioner pullies and water pump was changed just prior to the purchase. I got a full service history and documentation on the car so I know her entire maintenance history! I don't have big plans for her, I just want to acheive mabe 400-450HP!

Here is a list of mods the car came with:
    Nismo S-tune suspension
    Nismo Stabilizer bars front/rear
    Nismo white faced cluster
    HKS oil cooler
Kakimoto Regu 06R cat back exhaust
    Bellof HID kit
    Nismo smoked coloured side markers
    Nismo vents and hood lip
Nismo Oil cap and radiator cap
    Nismo aluminium/CF shift knob
    Steel braided brake lines
    Project Mu brake pads
Volk GTC wheels 18''X10j with +17 offset wrapped in Yokohama S-drive tires (265's)
1/4 of an HKS intercooler herd pipe kit. (don't know why!)
    Series 3 rear fog lamp
    Series 3 front lip

The first thing I did when I took delivery of the car, was to bring it to NAKANE RACING DESIGN to get ALL the fluids changed. Then I was also dealing with a boosting issue. I couldn't get more than .35 bar of boost. It turned out, that one the boost restrictor was missing. Got one put back in, the situation improved a bit but still it wasn't boosting properly! I thought it was either a boost leak somewhere or worst case scenario, one of my turbos was pooched. Upon inspection, it seemed the turbos were fine and we couldn't find any obvious boost leaks. ie: undone piping or jammed BOV!

So I decided to buy a Greddy Profec B spec II boost controller.

When it got installed, my mechanic cleaned up a lot of hoses and stuff that wasn't needed! The car used to have aftermarket gauges and possibly boost controller installed before and then put back to stock afterwards. Anyways, after that being done, she was finally running like a GT-R should be! Got my low boost setting at .8 bar and high boost at 1.0 bar. She's really fast on high boost!

When we had the car semi jacked up for the boost controller install, we noticed a leak coming from the transmission. It was a gasket inside that decided to give up its ghost! So that was the next step!
Taking the transmission down and fix the leak. While we were at it, we thought it would be a good idea to change the clutch as well.
So I got a Nismo Clutch with Coppermix plate, a Nismo Lightened Flywheel and new bearings.
Here are the pics of the install!

    transmission all cleaned up:

    Old flywheel

    New flywheel

    Old clutch

    New clutch

    New clutch plate:

While Nakane-san was working on my car, I spent the 2 days cleaning up my wheels!
    That was very hard!

Then we also noticed the valve cover gaskets were leaking too. So I got new ones and I thought it would be a nice opportunity to dress up my engine bay a bit! Got a set of Nur Gold Valve covers and swapped them. Also got a new Tein Strut tower bar and got that installed as well!

The interior: It's in great condition, but the shift boots looked a bit tired. I went to Ebay and found a seller called Top gaiter from the UK. Their REAL Leather shift boot/ handbrake boot set for the R33 was only $29.00 including shipping to Japan. I thought I would give it a shot as It is cheaper than another fake leather OEM boots and way cheaper than Robson leather which I had used on my R32 GT-R. And boy I was pleased with my purchase! Best $29.00 I've ever spent! That and I didn't like the aluminium/CF shift knob, so I bought a Nismo Leather Shift knob instead! My interior is simple, just the way I like it! Next on my list though is the Nismo white faced 3 meter set to complete the look!

That is all for now, I hope you like it! I know I do!

Small update on my little project! I bought an Apexi GT-spec full stainless front pipe and some Nismo spark plugs Heat range #7. Got them installed togay at Nakane Racing Design.
Also while I was there, I decided to remove my Tein Strut tower brace and put the stock one back on. (For sale BTW) And we also adjusted the suspension settings to make them a bit stiffer.
Front pipe. I can really feel a difference on the low end with this on!

    Spark Plugs. Pricey!

I also took some time to clean up and polish my headlights with this G-Zox stuff. It worked okay! The results are not bad, but I was expecting it would be a bit better!

Nakane Racing Design represent! Sorry, the car is dirty!
