What's this about Eagle Rods failing ? It seems that everyone who's posted so far is using Eagle Rods ... Anybody experience anything bad with them ? (I also am looking at using Eagle Rods, hence the curiousity). Sorry if this is off topic.

Eagle rods are cheaper than most. Supposedly rated up 1500hp. I wanted to go with Carrillo SA rods but was suggested that eagle was fine for my goals of sub 800whp. Anything can fail. don't stop just cause someone says it. Tomei oil pumps have broken before.

Specific Part Failures: catastrophic failure at about 1000 miles..... could hear audible knock.
teardown revealed #2 rod bearing was TOASTED car only ran for about 20 seconds when knock was heard... so much heat went into the rod it was turned pitch black halfway up. #1 rod took a touch of heat. Also found evidence the crank was walking HARD the entire 1000 miles..... all the main bearings were smushed like the crank was smearing them down going back and forth. also found evidence the crank weight kissed the cradle in one spot.
2 rods no good, crank trashed, block no good..... found the main bore totally trashed from the crank walk. the center main bearing was practically non-existant.... was paper thin and the side/thrust surfaces were totally gone down to the block/cradle

Im guessing this guy gaffed hard on the crankshaft endplay/thrust bearing. and the crank walked long enough to choke out the oil to #2 rod in the crank and thats when we heard the audible rod knock.... also i think he slapped the bearings in without even checking them and "assuming the machine shop cut everything correctly"
    just my thoughts

Also found one valve slightly bent and all sealing like ****

Overall Shop Experience: experience speaks for itself
