Question Floored my clutch - could it be the master or the clutch itself?

I stepped on my clutch on a regular drive and felt a pop/thud sorta sensation and the clutch pedal is floored. I was able to bang it into the gears and take it home, that night i touched the clutch it felt like it was right against the floor at the back. Today I touched it and it feels like maybe a inch or so of give, but I may just be tripping because the clutch still is pretty far back.. it squeeks everytime I press it.. it was squeeking before I ruined it too but now its hella loud.

I was thinking, if i was able to bang it in gear, maybe its not the clutch itself? I checked all the reservoirs and only the brake resevoir was a bit low (about 1cm under max) ..the smaller one next to it appeared to be over max... could this be a sign that my master cylinder is the reason why my clutch pedal is floored?

something like this happened to me in my 91 sonoma, i believe it was the pressure plate.
This happened about 6 years ago so i cant remember exactly if the pedal fell to the floor or not. I think it did. If i remember correctly it felt like snapping a clutch cable even though it was hydro.
    GL in your searches.

I was selling it at one point right, around the time I got it.. but thankfully I landed another job and got to pay it off. I've just been collecting parts for the car - I havent actually put anything into the car other than replacing a few burnt out bulbs. I don't think I'll be letting go of it - it's payed off.. slowley looking to restore it, take out dings here n there and whatnot.. but back to the problem, I was told by another tech that the pressure plate was on it's way out - any idea on how to rule out if the master is the issue before having to take tranny down and remove the clutch?

Im not really a skyline guy yet im converting, Have someone depress the clutch and check the slave cylinder for movement if its moving you can rule out the master. Did you hear any rattling around when it broke? it sounds like maybe you busted off the fingers on the pressure plate.

My clutch went to the ground after I dropped some friends off. I go to put it in reverse and clutch went to the floor and I was stuck in reverse. Had to get my friends to push the car to start it up and left it in 3rd all the way home. I went threw so many red lights. Bad choice but at least it was at 4am.

Anyways ended up finding out it was the salve. Got that changed and its been working great since. Is your brake/clutch fluid black and sparkly kinda? Pull out the clutch with your hands and push it up and down and check for leaks.

This morning I turned the car on for the first time after having the issue, i tugged on the clutch pedal out of frustration and it felt like I snapped something while getting it back into place (wasn't a very hard tug, surprised it came back) but now it's just loose and when i pushed on it, it didn't feel like the clutch was working rather just a broken peice of pedal moving back n forth.. I'm not too sure of what sort of clutch the previous owner had installed in the car, I havent dismounted the tranny yet. my brake fluid resevoir seems clean, I can post pics if it helps.. the smaller resevoir to the right of it is more of a deeper grey colour, the one that looks directly connected to the master - will post pics shortly

Thanks for all the help guys

Dude take a look under your dash at the clutch bracket itself. The way you described how it broke sounds like the bracket snapped. If its all good, and your slave cylinder is moving the clutch fork properly my next thought would be broken springs on the clutch plate. Its worth the look, if hate to hear ya took out the tranny only to find it wasnt the problem.
