drumming sound coming from tires ?

Well i have a drumming sound thats starting to get a bit loud when i drive the GTR . Its very similar to a noise that i had from 35 inch tires on a 4x4 truck . I'm using dunlop direzza tires and would like to know how noisy these are on the road from anyone else that has had them ?

If its not the tires , i have replaced all diff , tranny , transfer case fluids and that didnt make a difference , I do have a weak 4th gear syncho but that does not equate to this noise .

The pitch of the noise is vehicle speed related , it seems to get a bit louder when i hit the brakes OR undulations in the road force the front suspesion to be under a bit more load, can feel it through the steering column when braking.

It's neither worse nor better on cornering ( so i dont think it's wheel bearings ). The oil drained ffrom the diff was clear and very minimal debris on the magnetic drain plugs (just a slight amount of grey sludge which is expected)

Oil drained from the tranny was the same , very clear , no metallic parts.

The noise level does not change under deceleration or acceleration.

Wondering if its the gearbox main input bearings , or maybe the front diff drive shaft bearings.

I was thinking wheel bearing all the way till you said it's not... Small chance it could be though.

Does it go away at certain speeds or worst, and do you have any vibration?

Just went for a more attentive test drive ( and to get timmies )

when the car is cold it doesn't do it noticably , once warmed up after 7-8klm it does it , most noticable at about 60klmh to 80klmh and changes pitch depending on speed . there is no vibration apart from a rough almost harmonic frequency felt up through the steering column and through the steering wheel. Only feel it at the right speed , i guess it's hitting a resonant frequency ?.

Maybe front pinion bearing? or possibly wheel bearings? although any other wheel bearing i have experienced is more pronounced on cornering , maybe this car platform is different.

Another thing i have noticed ever since i got the car is that the rear LSD is pretty tight , to the point where if i accelerate around a sharp corner the back end has a hard time staying in traction , almost like a bunny hop. It does have zeal function coil overs . ss brake lines etc so it was obviously a track slut at some point. Wondering if it has a non-stock diff ?

The more i drive and listen to it , the more i think its the front wheel bearings . Anyone replaced their wheelbearings before ? wondering whats involved !

It's either a spindle or old school inner/outer bearing. Can't be to hard...

wow , the bearings are expensive from nissan , $140 per side plus $20 for the retaining rings.

Wonder if there is a cross reference with another model from nissan so i can go to napa and buy them , tried googling it but cant find any info

40210-05U00 normally i use the oem part number which i get from here http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/...ers-catalogue/ and i call up lordco and they can cross it over to a local brand or something they have in stock. good luck!
