Gear noise coming from under shifter

So i start my car up last night, And put it in to gear, and notice what sounds like gears in the transfer case as the vehicle is moving. I just finished reinstalling the tranny after a clutch change, and have dumped 2 liters of Nissan ATF D into the transfer case, and reinstalled everything correctly around the shifter, atleast as far as i can remember i did. The shifter boot was torn ever so slightly when the shifter went back in, but it didnt seem bad

Curious if dumping the fluid down the shifter hole is bad practice? is there some sort of bleeding that needs to be done on the transfer case, or should i just recheck my transfer fluid level from the fill whole?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

its not ATF that goes in there, its literally gear oil
    get some Redline Heavy ShockProof

it should be pumped from underneath i beileve, read the service manual for exact info

you will need 4 litres of heavy shockproof filled through the hole in the SIDE of the gear box. THIS IS FOR THE GEAR BOX , not the transfer case THEY DO NOT USE THE SAME OIL !

you will need 2 litres of redline ATF ( or the nissan atf if you want to) filled through the transfercase filler hole (on the rear of the case) . Do not fill anything through the shifter hole. There are 2 plugs on the back of the transfercase where the front driveshaft is driven from. Bottom one is drain , top is fill (just to clarify) .

When you fill the cases, add fluid until it starts to spill out of the TOP HOLES , then your good.

Sounds to me like you have no lube in the gearbox , which if you drive it like that you will destroy the synchos immediately and destroy the bearings , gears shortly after.

I am aware they aren't the same fluid, i didn't put ATF in the gear box, i put ATF in the transfer case.
There was definitely still fluid in the gearbox, as you don't have to open it up in any way to remove the transmission.

It seems that i just over filled it a bit, and it has stopped complaining now that the excess has leaked out of the overflow tubes.
