I was driving my r32 gtr skyline and lost power when i shifted to second and the car was sputtering, smoke was coming out of the exhaust, i can't tell what colour smoke because it's dark out and my rpms dropped to around 400-600,also there was a light knocking noise from the engine but no fluid leaks, luckily this happened around my parents house so i pushed the car there , the car still is driveable just very weak, all the other gauges looked normal.If anyone knows what this could be please let me know and can i drive the car a short distance thankyou

i can try to do that tommorow although the knocking wasn't that loud it was more like a clicking

this is exactly what happened to me when my turbo blew..it made like a grindy noise when the RPM was brought up .. i could still drive it obviously but it was soooooooo slow and powerless .. and there was a noise coming from my engine bay(the turbo) it felt like i was driving a civic.

Check your intake piping. Sounds like a leak

hey thanks people for the info it turns out my turbo elbow blew off on one side it's amazing what you can see when it's light out lol
anyway now though at wot it cuts mee off at 5000rpm i belive that's safe mode anyone know how to get it out of this thanks again

You could try resetting your ECU (disconnect battery, press brake pedal to bleed leftover power in the lines, reconnect battery)

thanks but i already did that btw do you know if the skyline has metal flapper on the filler tube for the gas tank cause i thought i had one before now it's gone and I'm wodering if this fell in to the tank if it would cause acceleration problems thanks

I believe my 1990 R32 GTR does not have it. Can't really see anything due to the angle but I stuck my cell phone in there and snapped some pics at different angles and did not see one in there.

No it doesn't have a metal flap in the gas filling tube. The pressurization is done with the gas cap.
