So as stated up top i would like to know if i can track my r32 gtr with the common oil drive issuse?

I am going on my second season right now. last year i was basicly doing all the maintance on the car to get it ready for the track. But then i came across the oil drive problem and was not sure what to do. as in if the car was still ok to track or not... i am planing on doing 1/4 mile and time attack. let me know what you guys think!

Give 'er. It's a GTR not a light bulb. So many of the issues you read are over stated. It seems the Japanese almost like to use fear to sell over priced car parts.
I have an oem oil system, I use 5w40 oil and add about 3/4 of a litre extra in the sump. NEVER had a problem. Expect to see higher oil temps than normal. Keep an eye on that. Adding a quality oil cooler is always a good idea.
The most important thing to NOT do is hit the rev limiter. That is what will really damage the oil pump. Also make sure your oil temp is up to normal before track flogging and don't shut the car down until it comes back down no normal range. A time attack session allows for a cool down lap anyway which will take car of that.

I had it but i fixed the problem, its better than taking the chance of hurting the motor and then costing u more money in the end.

Rome32 are you showing low oil pressure currently or are you just being cautious ? Lots of our cars will display low oil pressure but I wouldnt have much faith in the oem sensor as they fail often. Do you have any after market gauges ? If not its a great idea to pick some up especially if you like to really drive your car

I wind mine up to closer to 8K. I moved my rev limiter to 8350 to reduce the chance of hitting the limiter. My car is a '92 so apparently a part of the problem was rectified as was stated in the article posted by "fwd sucks" but other than that it's bone stock. I track it as often as I can and the car has almost 140k on it. I posted a clip here...
Quiet day at the track from a lapping session last year.
That being said assuming I keep the car the motor is coming out next year.

If your car is fairly stock or has light mods, it shouldn't need to go over 7k any ways. You make all of your power before that, so what's the sense of causing stress on the internals? When I have my car tuned, I'm gonna have it limit to 7k just to be safe. Until I have upgraded some of the bottom end I wouldn't go near 7.5-8k. But that's just me!

You'll be fine but as noted don't smash the limiter. Having something to warn you of low oil pressure is a good idea. I like to overfill my oil just a touch as well.

If you read the australian forums, they are mostly brainwashed that if you put a bare RB block on a race track it will just explode magically. But there are a bunch of us on factory pump drives doing just fine at the track

If your car is running with no problems then don't worry about it, i remember in the FSM there is some values for oil pressure you can check against for idle, 2000rpm, 3000rpm and etc.

If you really want to be sure, just remove the oil pump to check if the back plate screws have backed out and how much wear is on the inner gear surface since that isn't as much work as removing the motor and crankshaft just to do the collar

Be warned, once the engine is out of the car...its a slippery slope
