    A/C problem

    Hey guys and galls!

I know it's not a skyline but it's a A/C problem and meaby this could help someone some time...

    This is what is happening...

    1. Turn car on, AC off
    2. Clutch not turning
    3. turn AC on --> clutch turns --> cold --> happy GF --> happy me
    3. Turn AC off --> clutch no turn --> turn AC on --> clutch works.

Till now everything is normal... and all of this is with the car idling and not moving.

I take off with the car and the cold air stop. (I forgot if a turned the A/C off for a sec of I kept it on... Either way the clutch won't engage)

Wait a while (car off). Start it again and the AC clutch engage (Idling and not moving)

I should try it again but my GF wants some together time so I'll post again tomorow and see if it keeps working while driving without turning the A/C off for a sec...

    Cheers

EDIT: Car is full of refrigerant... Just filed it and I have a major frostbite to prove it lol

If you accidentally flipped it off for a sec it could be the ac relay sticking. Very common on newer mazdas. What kind of car ya got?

I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

2003 oz lancer (2.0L) Forgot to say.

So the relay might be weak and letting go?

Sometimes after a few years the heat of being used a lot results in the relay sticking. Especially when the car has been running for a while. Shutting the car off for an hour would probably result in the relay working again. Try replacing that $10 relay first.

Update: A/C switch is not the problem. When I the switch is on the electric fans turn on.
I located the power supply that goes to the compressor (12v light) and when the A/C is working the light is on.
When the A/C stop working (by it's self) the light shuts off. So this means that my clutch/electro magnet is fine.
Relay seems the problem (heat related also)
If I can find the relay I will change it, if not I'll just by pass the relay with a wire from the batterie to the compressor with a lil toggle switch and a fuse for when we want the A/C.

Anyone know where that relay could be on a 2003 oz lancer?

Should be in one of the fuse boxes in the engine bay. Most fuse box covers will have a diagram of fuses and relays. If your starter and AC relays are the same try switching them. Starter relay gets a lot less use so even a weak relay from the AC should work in the starter circuit.
Your blower motor is still blowing air through the vents even when the AC goes out, correct?

Yes, everything is fine but the warm air...

I have a fuse box in the kick panel by my left (driver) and a fuse box in the engine bay. In the fuse box there's the "front ECU" which control most electrical fonction. The front ECU can be opened and some more relays are in there. BUT there is no relay diagram for those relays (which are in the ECU). All other fuse boxes have a diagram. I've ask the evolutionm forum which one is which.

Heat doesn't work ever? Weird. Idle the engine for 15 minutes with the heat on and put your hand against your heater hoses in the engine bay, see if they're hot. See if you have another fuse for the heat. If lots of the electrical commands go through your ECU that could make it harder to diagnose/fix.

    No no no lol

Everything works normal but there is no A/C. Just warm (summer) air. But thanks anyways!
