    Question Roommates

This is for the people living in oak bay over in victoria.
What is the running rate of a single bedroom in a multi room house, all utilities and internet covered, located in oak bay going for these days? I have a female roommate who isn't paying her bills, and was evicted last night. The landlord is letting me rent out the room to whom ever i wish, for what ever I like because he doesn't want to deal with the headache. All he wants is his rent cheque at the first of the month... Seems pretty fare to me

Little bit of info about the house.
    Located on kings road
3 bedroom on main floor with one bath
2 bedroom upstairs with 2 bath
all rooms have a closet larger than an apartment
    storage space under stairs
laundry room/ mud room on main floor
2 car garage that is being housed as a "man-cave" ie. pool table, darts board, beer fridge, TV for the canucks games, etc.
upstairs has good sized living room and dining room
    full kitchen with deck.
    Really big back yard
driveway with parking for 4 plus on street

Wish I could give you exact sizing for the lot, back yard, house square footage, bedroom square footage, etc, but I haven't had time to measure it out. Later tonight I will be taking measurements and getting some photos of the house.

If I was not in Europe right now I would rent that **** from you... lol. Sounds like a nice place. I'd say in the 1000-1100$/mo but that's based on what I know from vancouver rent. Since it's in Oak bay I'd say a bit more... and given the fact it has a man cave and utilities included.

yes... I have a Miata. no... I'm not gay.

I would say around $500 a month I rented in oak bay about 2 years ago. One block from willows beach. For $400 with everything incl.

Factors in determining monthly payments vary, but location is huge, property condition is another big on, etc.

Based on info $500 sounds right.

Bedroom size is 10 foot long and 8 feet wide give or take an inch. As for the closet, the tape measure snapped and won't come out of casing . I'd guess a foot - 1.5 deep and 4 or 5 feet across. The room is a terrible color, but have the OK to paint it what ever the tenant feels like.

Falcon, you drive a miata, but I guess I can make an exception haha. The driveway is pretty much full at the moment actually :S. my skyline, and skyline shell take up most of the space... A build thread will be created in the summer after a court hearing.. Long story, don't ask..

As for the house, obviously I would love to find some sucker to pay $700 a month, but I'm reasonable and clearly recognize its not worth that, even with location. Yes it's in oak bay, but only because I'm on the oak bay side of Foul bay. It's no where fancy, as say, a block from willows beach. I guess I'll have to snap a few photos tomorrow in order to have an accurate representation of it. It's no multi million home, but I'd say it's above the average rental standards.

Thanks for the input so far guys!

    id say 650$ is reasonable....

but there are certain things that should be taken into consideration...

how much is the total rent, how much more are bills... then simply divide the amount and give yourself a bit of room for the new person...

also take into consideration food costs and other such costs as toiletries, laundry etc etc...

last thing you want is to have the new person feeling like they are being ripped off... cause then you either wont find someone or they wont pay it...

generally you are gonna want someone who is making about 1500 a month... so dont take someone whos got a part time pizza job... it wont work out

Because there is alot of meth addicts there and the govt supplies them with clean syringes at the tax payers expense. Although it is better to be stabbed with a clean needle than a dirty one.
    Double track drift, yo.
