    air horn conversion

so my 1991 gts-t already went for first safety inspection in saskatchewan. it needs a few things and a horn is one of them. yesterday i installed a FIAMM dual air horn right through to my horn button on my steering wheel. the air horns are mounted in my GTR front bumper, impossible to see unless you pop the hood and look in through the top.

my question is does anyone know if air horns are illegal? my inspection sheet said "horn not working". so i figured when i take it back they will just press the horn button and thats it. but if they notice that it is like 140 decibles are they going to tell me i need to put in a different one? i have a regular horn too that i can easily swap out in 10 minutes but id rather save myself the time and this air horn is so sick.

I would definitely just use the regular horn if it only takes 10 minutes. then once every passed just replace it with the air horn since there's a posibility they may not pass it. what else did u fail on? just minor stuff?

oh yeah minor stuff. all together it was:

    horn not working.
one front marker light burnt out, as well as one rear.
    tinted front windows.
door hinge pin loose on driver side.
driver window doesnt roll down. (window regulator, which i am trying hard to find)
all 4 wheels need to be aligned. (it has adjustable camber so ill just camber the wheels back out after.
and the down pipe has "an exhaust leak"

BUT REALLY, the downpipe is a screamer pipe so its not a leak lol its a small pipe coming out of the downpipe to make backfires and make it loud as hell when i pin it. the down pipe will be easy to take care of.

ive fixed everything except the tint on the windows, the window regulator, and the door pin. and the down pipe but im gonna do that right before i take it in for re inspection

Nice man, ur almost done. did u buy it from bc or something?

for me i had to change the whole exhaust system to OEM...but it's all good adn back to normal now. and u get 30 days for re inspection and wont cost u another dime.

where did u get urs inspected? there were alot of shops that wouldn't touch my car for inspection in regina.

i go to fountain tire. my fairlady needed inspection and all i had to do was weld a little 4 inch hole in the under carriage. and that car was F'D. my passenger window wouldnt roll down properly and the passenger window was blue and the driver window was clear, the speedo was stuck on 60km/h... it was awful and it passed easy. then i bring my skyline in and they gave me a list, i was heart broken.

my advice to everyone from now on is this: GO FOR A SAFETY INSPECTION WHEN THE PLACE IS REALLY BUSY AND ASK THEM TO SQUEEZE YOU IN TO THEIR SCHEDULE. this way they dont have too much time to look at your car, they will look at the basic stuff and get it out for the next paying customer to get in.

it was super busy when i took my fairlady in, then i take my skyline in on a friday at 7:30 am.. no one else was even there and they literally called me 4 hours later. my fairlady, they had it in the shop for probably 40 minutes tops.

Sounds like these guys are being way too picky, Id go somewhere else for inspection. I dont see how tinted windows are a safety concern for them, Its your choice to risk the ticket. Even the window, give me a break. Brakes, suspension and lights should really be all that matters. I could see them failing the horn but Id take it somewhere else.
    Regards,
    Ken.

you dont even know the dumb part yet! my front wheels had a locking wheel nut on each side apparently. i didnt know this and i told them to search my car for the key for it. they couldnt find it. guess what they charge to break off a locking wheel nut....... 25$!! each!!

im gonna take it back for re inspection to fountain tire cause its free if i do it in the next 3 weeks. if they tell me the horns illegal or something stupid then i will take it somewhere else. im almost done my friend is giving me the window regulator out of one of his 240s and then its just the door hinge pin and the tint and the downpipe. which my friend is lending me off his stock rb20. soon my car will have a plate on it

Honestly can't think of the name right now, but a place in Moose Jaw is fair, and won't **** you around, but don't think you'll get away with everything. As for the Driver window I have no idea why that would be called haha. But on my r33 it was simple, if you whether they're similar or not it could be as easy as a simple solder bead.

my boss buys dodge 2500 trucks from sgi and gets them safetied through a guy in moose jaw. you are probably referring to the same guy here. i guess ill go back to fountain for my free re inspection and say i want it inspected before the wheel alignment. if they tell me some bull **** ill say see ya and ill have it done in moose jaw.

does anyone know how to camber out wheels? im sure its somewhere on this forum maybe someone can give me a link to the post. all four of my wheels are cambered out somewhere between 3 and 5 degrees im guessing. and fountain tire is going to make them straight to pass safety so i would really like to have them cambered back out. ill pay someone to do it even if i have to. straight wheels = no
