    Front Mount Intercooler Piping Kit

Im hoping someone here will know or has done this before with a RB20DET.

My R32 doesnt have a front mount intercooler yet and Ill be getting one right away but Id also like to get an aftermarket intake manifold that has the inlet facing towards the front of the car. Where can I get an intercooler piping kit that will mount up to the inlet on the front of the aftermarket intake manifold? All the pipe kits I come across look like the same kit and Im under the impression that it will only mount up to the stock intake manifold where the inlet points toward the passenger side and the pipe goes across the engine horizontally.

Custom! Take it to a welding shop / exhaust shop and tell / show them what you want. they should be able to make a pipe up really quick that can run from the mani to the intercooler.

Stock GTR piping on plenum side with GTR stock intercooler, stock GTR intake plenum + 6x throttlebodies (with custom made adaptor plate between throttlebodies, head).

Or buy this intake plenum (has better flow into all cylinders, especially 5th, 6th which are a problem on stock GTR intake plenum) -

Then use stock GTR piping on intake side of stock GTR intercooler.

just wondering which is the better way to go when it comes to a fmic on the rb20. without changing out the intake manifold I have 2 options, 1 is to have ic with both input and output on the same side. I have been told this can cause lag due to the air having to turn around at end of ic. Option 2 is to buy a kit that makes piping go up through battery tray and across back of rad to intake plenum on motor. I have a coiple issues with this mainly due to the cold side running right under the rad hose and past hot rad. Could someone point me in the right direction, would swapping intake manifold just be better.....

The input on one side an output underneath is called a turn flow intercooler. Can buy tube N fin type turnflow intercooler for cheap + shipping + have to make custom intake piping (similar to as used on stock Group-A R31 RB20DET engine) -

    http://www.redlineperformance.co.nz/...cts&part=27683

But be careful, as some cheap bar N plate intercoolers are not that good at cooling at higher boost levels, don't flow as good -

    http://www.are.com.au/techtalk/intec...e Intercoolers

Also that link can explain what affects lag from people that test, build intercoolers.

There are Japanese made turn flow intercoolers, but are alot more expensive (better quality) unless you buy one second hand.

Another way with option 2 is like on a Group-A RB20DET engine with reflective tape to protect intake piping -

Those Group-A RB20DET engines produce up to around 443rwhp at 1.7bar (roughly 25psi).

Thanks for the info, the ic I was looking at is a bar and plate from cxracing. Has anyone actually used one of their ics, if so is it worth going cheap. I have heard alot of good things about them on many different forums. Im only at stock boost and not gonna push it to much more as this gtst is my everyday car. Thinking of getting the kit that has piping thru battery box, normal ic, so if I ever swap intake mani I can just change a bit of piping. But that means I need to do a battery relocation....
