    RB20DET 0km project...

Hi I just want to share my project with you guys so let me know what you think about it . Heres how it start:

I just bought a Skyline GTS Type-M 90 Blue like the R34, I just fell in love with her, got her for 7000$CAN think i got a nice deal on it So i drive it back to my home in QC from MTL (250km) I was amaze how it was pushing hard and easy but didnt push it more than 5500rpm, got home change the all the oils and fluids, drive it like that for 3weeks , it was pushing very hard , already got at the purchase time a APEXI catback and i put a AEM dry filter kit on it. SO after 3 weeks of fun at the end of July I decide to change my timing belt for a Greddy one and change spark plugs just to be sure everything is in order on the engine. I didnt do it the right way and I just broke the little thing in the Exhaust Cam who go in line with this little thing in the CAS, so start the car and bent 2valves:hit_head:

So I decide to rebuilt all the engine anyway after 80 000kms and 17 years that couldnt be bad for the car

Special thank for Judasentinel who helped me alot Nothing of this project could have happened without him, Hes a great guy and know many things about the RB engines ,talk so much and share many things , He is now a very good friend for me Thanks Munib!

So heres what ive just do to it:

    -Remachined head
-New valves seals, retainers and springs (NISSAN)
-Complete Engine Rebuild Gasket Kit (NISSAN)
    -ARP Head Bolts
    -COmetic Thicker Head Gasket
    -Greddy Timing Belt
    -New Idler and Tensioner (NISSAN)
-Every single bolts and Nuts are new
    -New Pistons Rings (NISSAN)
    -New Bearings (NISSAN)
    -Remachined Block
-Wash and paint everything that could be except of valve covers ( I have some body work to do this winter and will paint that at the same time)

So lets see some pics of what it looks right now , Im gonna put back the engine in the hole in 2 days:-D

I put the CAS in the wrong side i didnt notice the little notch in the sahft of it and in the exhaust camshaft so when i tighten the bolts it just break. So get the CAS out of it to see what have make that sound, and then reput it back maybe the same way. I imagine if you put the CAS 180 degrees of what it is suppose to be thats why I bent 2 valves at the second I started the engine because every tiing marks were on there spot:-?

The CAS has NOTHING to do with bending valves.. all it does is tell the injectors when to open and the spark plugs when to spark..

SOOOO if you bent valves you didn't do something right on the timing belt.. did you replace the idler and tensioner.. maybe once of those broke or you didn't have the tensioner spring on properly..

either way its a bit of a pain need to do all that... but you have a nice and fresh engine..

Thank you for your kind words, Julien. Kudos to you alone, man....for you were the main force behind it. You went about it the right way and not the way I messed up my engine issues and fell for lies and misguidance over the RB25 and Emanage. Keep it up. I am looking forward to our cruise together in spring '08. That remains a promise

RB20 is a sweet motor and capable of a lot of grunt and juice when done the right way. The pics clearly show that the preparation was thorough and everything looks well in place.

    Congratulations on that, man.

As always, I am there for ANYTHING that I can be of assistance for.

As for the bent valves, overheating CAN cause damage to them, in addition to other parts of your head. And overheating CAN happen if your spark and fuel injection are out of sync. But its also true that a poor replacement job on timing belt change will bend valves, if the idler and tensioner are not taken care of as well.
